Superbru - Currie Cup and Rugby Championship 2013

OK, everybody seems to be in some sort of alternate reality here. As much as I would like the Cheetahs to beat the Sharks, it won't happen. Same with the Lions. WP and Sharks have the most consistent performances under their belts and they will face off in the final after relative easy wins in the semis. Sharks then take the cup in a tight, low scoring final.

May I be wrong in all my predictions.

The Sharks have made some strange player choices this week. They dropped two centers and a flyhalf that really sparked the backline in favour of:
10. Lambie - Who hasn't played that much rugby in the last while and looks low on confidence.
12. Steyn - Back from injury after a long while and before his injury he really looked out of sorts. I hope he gained some speed because the ball always died with him.
13. Ludik - A fullback slotting in at outside center. Doing the job but not adding anything to the position. Is Whitehead injured?

The Sharks should still take the game since it's a home game and the Cheetahs just haven't fired since Super Rugby since their players look tired. BUT... The Cheetahs looked much better last weekend with their Springboks back. Their tired players will also feel more up to this game since there is more at stake. I think it's going to be a close game and the Cheetahs may just surprise everyone.

WP looks unbeatable especially when they play at home. When was the last time they lost at home? Whew, a very long time ago. Jantjies isn't there to cost games anymore. The team just looks so settled and for a change, they are scoring tries. I can't see them lose a game in this year's Currie Cup.

Go WP! :D

If the Cheetahs want to stand a chance, they need to do only three things. But these three things would be very difficult if not downright impossible to get right after they messed it up the whole season.

1. They need to improve their handling around the rucks. Many opportunities have been lost by knocking in the pick-and-drive or on the first pass.
2. They need to concede less turn-overs in the tackle. Again, they have lost the momentum too many times because the tackled player didn't fall right and the ball got turned over.
3. They need to stay awake for the entire game.

3. They need to stay awake for the entire game.

1) Sarel needs to choose whether to keep it tight or use the backs, not this pick and drive and get isolated crap they have done
2) Again dont get isolated, slow down if you dont have a teammate next to you.
3) This is the worst part about the Cheetahs gameplay this season, race to a comfortable lead then resort to defending it and then if you lose the lead play with hearts on sleeves the last 10 minutes. . .

My only advice would be strike hard and quickly, if the Sharks get settled in with a 6-6 all scoreline after 15 minutes they will get into gear - we need them to chase from the get go! Two tries from the kick off should be the order of the day, easier said than done I know but hey I'm an optimist!
