Survey: Review scores unimportant

I don't give a toss about review scores. Whether or not a good is worth playing is the review's job to describe. Scores are for lazy people.

I agree totally.:D I never judge a game by what it got unless its below 50%

Does this mean that everyone went out and buy Damnation?

Metacritic is my first place that I got before buying games. If a game gets a low score then I don't buy it. If a game gets a high score then I know there's a good chance that it will suck.

If it weren't for scores then I would have bought that Star Trek game, um I can't remember its name. But it got terrible scores and so I left it.

So yes, I base my game buying on genre and scores. And Silent Hill.

You can give anything a score, in the end it is the Reviewers score and thus his opinion about the game.

Reading allot of different Review articles about a certain game, will usually give you the general Idea. Also if it is a Franchise go and have a look to what the community says about that game, if the community of a certain game feels that it is not a good game then do not go buy it.

Another why is a hands on experience.(demo's/Pirate copy). If you Truly Like the game buy it. If not and it is Pirated, delete it, coz why would you like to keep a crap game on your hdd that takes up space for something else.

I do read reviews, and I do care what the review says, but I honestly can't say that it will influence my choice very much ff I am set on getting a game. If I have been wanting a game for months and a few reviews say it's bad, I'll probably still get it.

Where they really do help is in convincing me to buy a game that I hadn't previously considered. And, in preventing me from getting a crap game just because I don't have any other game to buy.

I usualy play a game 1st before I really start paying attention to reviews and scores just to compare what I think against the review.

I judge games before I buy them from descriptions, screenshots, and the developer, and so far, that hasn't let me down.

I rarely am dissuaded from buying a game just because of bad reviews, unless it's a reviewer I really trust.

Most reviewers these days cannot critique a donkey from their own ass.

I look at most review sites and it is interesting to see most games falling into the same brackets in terms of ratings. Seems games these days are awarded excellence on production values and budget alone. And even when reading the reviews you can often just superimpose one over another with very little true insight. Might as well just read a preview hype article since it comes off the same as many of the reviews out there.

There are too many high scores. I always think about the marking system from UCT. It would be incredibly difficult to get 80% or higher, yet half the games that have come out are easily beating that.

I just look at the pictures anyway.
