I can kinda see both sides of the argument. She definitely gets unjustified criticism on some of her writings....especially from people who don't understand that in an opinion piece a colloquial tone & stream of consciousness is acceptable.

On the other hand some of the criticism is justified too imo. A colloquial tone should never be achieved at the expense of basic grammar. Starting a new paragraph with "And" is unacceptable. A new paragraph indicates a new point or topic while "And" is a conjunction connecting to parts of a sentence. The two simply can't be combined since they have opposing meanings.

As for the comment on the 3DS page : I reckon only registered members should be able to comment. Then mods can hand out infractions & bans for insults.

Overall it's just sad to me how you have to school and herd GROWN PEOPLE (unless they are 12 year olds, which is debatable) and teach them lessons because they go on like little fsking kids on the internets. Wtf man. You people should be ashamed of yourself.

People don't like her because she just brings here view forward very strongly. Nothing wrong with it just sum people don't like it when someone makes a strong point which differs from theres.

Wrong. Really, I blame bad high school English teachers for this stuff. And I know, because I trained to be one, and half the other student teachers in my class couldn't even explain what a finite verb is - and this was at postgrad level at UCT. The same applied when I did my prac blocks in schools - the level of incompetence among English teachers is appalling. Rules like "don't start a sentence with a conjunction" are dutifully repeated to kids year after year, with no reasonable basis whatsoever - ask why, and your teacher likely couldn't explain.

There is simply no good reason not to begin a sentence or paragraph with a conjunction - this includes coordinating conjunctions like "and" and "but", as well as subordinating conjunctions like "which". A sentence is, after all, a clause or a series of clauses. Conjunctions link clauses. As long as the new sentence (clause) follows meaningfully from that preceding it, it is absolutely acceptable to begin with a conjunction.

I've found it doesn't always save my high scores. ;_; On Hideout yesterday, I pulled a 2700-point combo, and finished the level with just under 10 000. It didn't save the score. You can imagine how pissed I was.

Man I so wanna play the multiplayer but I have a feeling I'm going to have one hell of a mission with GFWL to get it working :/

Desert is probably the hardest one to get a really high score since u only have the carbine. I leashed and mercied most of the enemies to get my score up. Too few of my friends playing it at the moment, Ive only got you and Toxin and some other dude playing Echo and so far ur my only competition although it did take some doing beating a few of those score. But Im guessing you've blow them away and I will have to up my game.

Yeah it was 9200 or 9400, I had to pull out all the stops to get 9600.

True; when I was in a school institute pre-World War I, I never could find a teacher able to satisfactorily explain to me why it was grammatically illegal to start a sentence with 'and'.
