The Gauteng education department is investigating allegations that a teacher allegedly called black people "demons" at the National School of Arts in Braamfontein in Johannesburg.
"We have initiated an independent investigation," spokeswoman Phumla Sekhonyane told Sapa on Tuesday.
She did not provide further information.
