Teaching my girlfriend to drive

From personal experience, if you value your relationship you should NEVER teach your girlfriend how to drive.

Unless you want to break up with her, of course :p
These are wise words!!
If you have to, let her use your car, the Opel of course. But stay out of the car at all times - let her learn herself.

In fact, never try teach your girlfriend anything, be it golf, PC's whatever. When you try to correct her, she wont think like a dude and take it as constructive criticism, she'll think you're just telling her off.
RustPuppet is a wise man. :)

Hah you lot had easy cars! I started with my mums old kombi! What a nightmare, luckily we where in Langebaan at the time and they had a new development that was just starting. So I learnt to drive the kombi on the dirt roads there. Must admit tho it made smaller cars a dream to drive (my first car was a mini cooper old model - as in VERY old). To this day I dont mind driving big cars but I refuse to learn to drive any automatic car. Half of the fun of driving is changing gears :D

I also love changing gears and especially for slowing down etc or going downhill they help a lot.

Oh and of course for racing :p

Start with the Opel, It is the basic car. Once she knows how to drive she can take the BMW out for a spin

I'd say the opel too, not because it's smaller, but the fact that it doesn't have any driving assist features makes it a better learning platform. It means she'll be able to comfortably drive both cars when she's finally got her licence.

As for time. Saturday or Sunday mornings?

1. Bye bye clutch
2. Hello curbed-mag wheels
3. Brace yourself for a probable break-up. Reason: at some point you're going to say something that's going to offend her so badly that she'll want to leave you. There is a very good reason why boyfriends never teach girlfriends how to drive. Well, not if they value their relationship.

And yes, I also vote for the Opel. That way she gets to learn how to drive - AND fix a car in the middle of nowhere. :)

Cool story bro.

She needs to learn in the car that she'll adventually do her test in. Not adviseable to swap cars during the time that you teach her.

All the best....haha!

The fundamentals of which is better for her aside. The Opel is probably just a safer bet financially...
