Why don't you guys downgrade to the smallest capped data, I think its something like R29 and then cancel immediately after. That way you pay only the R29 for your last month in stead of whatever the uncapped amount is, which I'm pretty sure is much more.

I have it on good authority that at Telkom, you'll be throttled much, much sooner than other ISP's.

Also.. The UPGRADE to a faster line is FREE, but you'll be billed monthly for the new upgraded line.

Dude if i can give you advise do not sign with Afrihost, i was with them 2 months and had no joy go openweb they prioritize for gaming and downloads

I'm on their Gamerskin(downloaders bling) 2mb package and i have no issues

Lies! I downgraded from 4 meg to 2 meg. 2 months later they tried to convince me to upgrade to 4 meg. So politely gave them the middle finger and did a complaint on helopeter.

they cant bill you for something you did not agree to. i ordered a 2mb uncapped line from them and if they choose to upgrade me they have to do it at no cost otherwise they have to notify me of the increase on my monthly line rentals etc. they will have a lot of angry consumers on their hands if they do.

I had account before with afrihost. I will see how it goes. maybe ill will change early next year.
 
I just tested my 4meg line:

Last Result:
Download Speed: 8554 kbps (1069.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 858 kbps (107.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 30 ms
‎2013‎/‎11‎/‎13‎ ‎11‎:‎49‎:‎34‎ ‎PM

Not bad. I rent a line from Telkom and have a capped account with Vox.
 
ok well the upgrade only affect the 4 - 10 mb users atm from the 18th it will affect the 2 - 4mb line conversions.
Currently i can't test jack seems the lightning didn't just take my router and wifi router but my on board network card too

Guess i'll have to fork out a bit more than i wanted to this month :(
 
Does anyone know which of the ISP's are also running with free speed upgrades? Afrihost and MWeb are the only ones I know about besides Telkomm.
I say this under correction though, haven't been keeping myself as updated as I'd like to be.

You're right. You couldn't be more wrong. It's only TI and Axxess atm.

Yip...the problem is this time round its also going to be a bit of a crunch on the contention side, so those doing free upgrades are not necessarily offering the best value.
