Terrible Internet Brag Thread

In this thread we brag about how terrible our internet connection is and how useless it is for gaming. I'll go first...

Just moved into a new townhouse.
No Telkom lines.
Have to use a Neotel 3G wifi router.
Most useless device for gaming.
Steam takes FOREVER to login.
Takes 3 hours to download 150mb file.
Dota 2 ping is OVER NINE THOUSAND!!!!!

Can any of you guys beat this? Lets hear you sob stories...

Interesting thing is that Telkom activated my ADSL and line within 3 days of moving in to my new place.

I phoned a week before moving and they were real troopers.

I have not had much issues with Telkom at all while some of my friends that live close to me is having absolute hell service. Shame

Im between houses at the moment and am using a combination of 3G and LTE (when i can get signal) and while the connection is not bad, its ridiculously expensive...

The ADSL in my temp apartment keeps disconnecting & I have to reset the router 6+ times per day. Meanwhile the fibre link in my actual apartment I still have to pay for but it goes *unused*. Sad days...

Ah, all the horror stories to come. I think there's plenty of people here that's been through hell with SA internet....

I myself have had issues with my line the last couple of years. There had been times where my line would constantly drop every couple of minutes and have ping spikes of 1500ms as soon as night time comes. I couldn't play games at all. And this went on for months and months despite logging dozens (literally) of faults, many, many phone calls and hundreds of rands of cellphone calls to their call center. Each time the fault was resolved when it finally got escalated to a specialist. Months later, of course.

Sometimes being a gamer is hard :(.

That sucks hard man. Is it your own router that you're using? If not, don't you think it could be faulty? Have you tried asking Telkom to move your ADSL line to another port on your DSLAM or even on the exchange if possible?

Temp accommodation, so I don't even have the login for the router to see wth is going on. Feels like its just set to sync at a too high speed. Guess I should get the housing management company or whatever its called to look into it....and jam SP games until I do...

Why don't you just factory default the thing and put your own ADSL account on there? :P That's what I would have done. I wouldn't have given a fuck hahaha.

Its in the UK so don't think that'll work. :D

Was just about to mention something along these lines. HX moved on to greener pastures months ago already. :D

Normally I wouldn't complain about my internet, but these days its HORRIBLE.
I have wireless Internet from Level 7. A company in Centurion.
4mb Line, uncapped and was told unshaped.
Used to be very happy with their service, but lately its been terrible.
My download speeds are 3-15kb/s during the day, and close to 400kb/s between 0:00 and 07:00.......... (it was never like this, they say it is how they have always worked)
In my CSGO games lately I get a constant ping of 250-350ms spiking to 700+ sometimes. Even getting loss of about 30% sometimes :(
Does not make gaming fun at all

I'm using a WISP in Polokwane since the Telkom line to my house is pretty much useless. They weren't insulated correctly when put underground...

Anyway now with my WISP I can't connect to the PSN because the IP address has been blocked by Sony. No idea why though, but it looks like other people are having the same problem around the world.

So I have to wait for my WISP to assign me a new IP address.

So is this a thread where we brag about our terrible internet, or is this a terrible thread where we brag about our internet? Here's both cases for me:

My download speed is borked tonight. :(

After years of crappy ping and millions of messages to Telkom, they've done something and I have this result 24/7:

Seems like I was dropped from unstable 8 meg to stable 5.5.

Many thanks faceless techie. 6 hours from complaint to fix. :D

I have an uncapped , Afrihost 4mb line in Woodstock, Cape Town. Had it up for 5 months, already had a total of +-2 months down time due to a number of reasons. 1) a-holez stealing copper wires 2) Disturbance on my line that apparently kills my internet. Afrihost cannot give me any sort of refund "because its all fine from their side" and Telkom was so kind to reduce my bill by R35 ( thank goodness ). I honestly think it depends on your area and also how much you get throttled/shaped. On another note, when its working fine I get REALLY good speeds for a 4mb line, but its EXTREMELY inconsistent. I can't get my head around what the best solution is because it seems to be different for everyone. Thinking about going Capped 150gb with Afrihost. There's no harm in trying because Afrihost lets you switch between services as you please.
