Text-based games

I used to find that after a few hours playing and once you get to know your way around, you start using your mind to imagine the room the text describes. So you end up in a mind movie of your own making.

Yeah that's pretty much what happens with Med as well.

How difficult is Med to get into? Are they huge amounts of reading to be done before starts playing?

Not at all. It's really pretty simple and they even have a MUD client on their home page (www.medievia.com) that is preconfigured.

The bonus of med is that it's constantly changing - they're working more on ships now (so you sail and fight serpents) and will be doing underwater adventures too. If you want to you can read the underlying storyline and so on but it's easy to get into the game without doing that.

I played Medievia for about two months. It was just before I decided to try Guild Wars. It was fun but I don't think I'll play it again.
