TF2 broken

** Solved ** - laptop doesn't switch to discrete GPU for some games. Nvidia control panel to force it

Need some help troubleshooting.

I've got a laptop that can run Skyrim, CS GO etc at respectable settings.

....but TF2 gets me terrible GFX lag even with everything set to lowest (on a game thats old & undemanding anyway). 50FPS with dips to 16 so something is very broken.

CS Go is using the same game engine and that seems fine...

I suspect its failing to switch from integrated GPU to the discrete but thats just a theory. Laptop is also not really venting any heat during TF2 which seems suspicious.

Already updated driver & switched off the steam overlay.

Ideas?

have you tried deleted the TF2 user dir? I had an issue once with CS, that sorted it for me.

Tried this...no joy.

Ended up finding the cause...as suspected it doesn't switch to discrete GFX. Had to force it to global discrete & restart. Now I'm gettin 300 instead of 30 fps...much better.
