The 5 worst games of 2011 so far

I played Duke for 3-5min....what a disappointment...

I was looking forward to kick ass and chew bubblegum...

Duke Nukem should have been Number 1. The other games where crap from the first installment anyway. (except Call of Juarez, somehow they got that horribly wrong)

I haven't played any of these games and looking at this list,i won't need to.
Judging by the reviews it got,i'd agree with Glordit and say Duke for number 1.

Anybody who expected DNF to be anything other than a huge disappointment is living in a fantasy. As for the rest of the list, 2 tie-in titles we all knew and expected to suck and 2 titles that flew so far under the radar almost nobody knew of its release.
It might just be me but if i was going to make a list of Disappointing titles I would look at titles people where actually excited about it; HomeFront, Space Marine, etc not 5 games nobody cares about.

No surprise they were all "cash in" games.

3 based on films, one tried to cash in on a classic title and the last one a rather twisted attempt to cash in on the outbreak of gang violence in Mexico.

Why was is it so unreasonable to expect it have been at least half decent?

I was expecting to be "O.K" but when I saw they they where using Unreal Engine 2.5 (Ut2k4) I started to have doubts. Plus they where taking too long to finish it then all of a sudden they where done!?

Been in development for a decade, gaming has evolved in the time - what worked back in the 00s wasn't & didn't work now. A hashed together mix & match of the last 10 years work was never going to be "good". Remember that blog piece I wrote on this subject, Duke Nukem Forever; A Analogue Clock in a Digital Age? It dealt with this subject.

DNF... no surprise there
CoJ: Cartel... Good to know. I recently finished Bound in Blood so will stay clear of this one then.
With regards to the other 3, I've learnt my lesson a while back with games that are based on movies... they tend to be boring as hell. (probably cause once you've seen the movie, you kinda know what's coming)

honestly, DNF should have been 1-5 on that list coz it was that rubbish. and considering that time they took, it makes the crime all the more shocking :-P

Good to know- I always metacritic a game before purchasing if in doubt. Life's too short to be playing shoddy games.

I think I made it to ten mins. A friend picked it up on launch day and brought it over. We were both like "WTF is this sh*t". I was seriously elated I did not dish out cash for it. He's also regretting it. Although he insists the online rocks. I've pointed him towards BFBC2 for a good online experience, although he wont budge. Pride is an ugly thing.

Well, then I went out a picked up Driver SF. Not too bad overall but also one that would've been better off in the shop still. Maybe just not my thing. It's getting traded this friday for BF3. :)
