The best game Designer

who do you guys think are the Best game designer thats in the industry ?

I feel that Yu Suzuki (Former HOD if Sega's AM2 division) is the best designer that has ever walked this planet (He is the man behind Killer games like the VFseries, Daytona, outrun, Shenmue, 355 challenge, virtua cop etc.

I would say that people following close in his footsteps would be

Nintendo Legend Shigeru Miyamoto then Hideo Kojima and Tomonubu Itagaki (Cause he made DOA) ooh and then Cliffy B :D

Personally I don't think Cliffy B deserves to be a great yet. Needs to make more games to show us what his capable of.
 
BioWare gets my vote specifically the team that worked on the Baldur's Gate games. Other honorable mentions are Troika for their vampire the masquarade:bloodlines games and Cd Projekt for the witcher.

Game designing is always a team effort so I believe its a bit foolish to single an individual out especially if you don't actually how much he contributed to a game compared to others who worked on it.

There is a difference between the designer and the development team ! Game designers are not necessarily programmers. Designers are the people that comes up with the game Idea and pitches it to the company IE Cliffy B, Shigeru Miyamoto etc the development team are the people that makes the game under the designer's influence. without a designer there is no game just like without a script there is no movie ! A designer is the brains behind the whole game.

You can have the best idea in the world and it would fall flat if you don't have the people who can implement your idea. Besides with certain games you have lead designers and lead writers, now which one is more important the guy who writes the script or the guy who came up with the idea. a Game is a combination of lots of parts and each one is very important and is needed to make a game great.

I won't comment on Cliffy B since I detest the man.

I agree, he worked on 2 great games and now thinks his the best thing since sliced bread. No ones even heard of him before Gears, the other 2 epic games he worked are barely known.

The thing is people only know about him now because of gears but he's been in the industry for over 17 years ! unlike kojima who is only famous for the metal gear series and nothing else Cliffy B has been the main man behind killer franchises such as The unreal series, Jazz jackrabbit etc. and yet you guys only see gears gears gears ! When I think of kojima all i see is metal gear, metal gear, metal gear cause thats all he ever did ! look at the bigger picture guys.
