The best game to increase your skill level

I recently got back into PC gaming after about 5 years of Xbox gaming. The very first game I started playing (Deus Ex) proved that my FPS skills has dramatically decreased over the years of controller abuse. So I started to wonder, what game will be the best to increase my skill level in?

I obviously thought of Battlefield and COD first. But then I remembered the frenzied firefights to be had in Unreal Tournament. To me these games represent a different type of FPS experience.

So what do you guys think? What game help you increase your FPS skill level the most?

Counter Strike
 
I play cod4 promod allot... Really helps with your reflexes etc. And you get a game fps trainer that helps you improve certain skills... And you get coaches that spectate you and tell you were you can improve etc.

Wow great. Something I'll have too look into then.
 
The best would be to play a strong SP campaign get the basic aim back.. Cs:Go online will only get you raged at.. and you will get crushed as the only okes playing are extremely good players. Blops 2 is very easy.. even terrible players can look good in TDM. But TDM is your best bet. IF you ahve cod 4 go try promod out .. it works quite well. The ability to constant re spawn makes it nice to just go and try again and will improve your aim LOADS. But no game asks for better aiming that CS.
 
Battlefield3,I don't have top notch reaction skills but I make up for it with awareness,tactics and precision aim.
 
just load up UT2K4 again ... gradually increased the difficulty level, once you feel you owning the bots then get that vampiress bot/mod ... you will definitely up your precision and reaction time

I also have a feeling that UT will be a good stomping ground to hone my skills. I remember back in the days of the original UT I got damn good and could hold my own against really good players. Must be the mechanics of the game and the fast paced action.

It seems as if the different games will help with different skills.
