The Black Friday Specials Thread of Doom

Does anyone have any experience with buying from Amazon? I am very eager to try it but I don't want to get slammed by 100% import tax and so much shipping costs I could've just bought from SA.

All the imports fees are calculated at the checkout on Amazon. You don't pay a cent extra when the item arrives in SA.

What?! I didn't know that. That's awesome! Will definitely go have a look.

They started indicating it on the price page already, so you don't have to check out anymore. When you are signed in with a ZA account they will indicate whether the item ships to your area and what the taxes and shipping will be. It's still quite expensive for most items with the useless exchange rate.

So any other places anyone knows of except Wootware and takealot running big specials on Black Friday (takealot the whole week)

What takealot sale would this be? If it's that "oh my" special, there's a few items on there from my wishlist and the prices have not changed...

Yeh its the Oh My sale this week that i'm talking about as well as daily deals every 2 hours instead of every day apparently.

Can confirm that, as someone working in the FMCG market, Black Friday is going to be a HUGE DEAL (pun very well intended). Checkers, Spar and PNP all have some seriously good specials going. Each different supplier to these retailers have jumped onto the bandwagon of Black Friday is a big way

Head to : www.aramexglobalshopper.com

They have sites all over the world, so you can buy from Amazon and score free "local" shipping. Then Aramex will get it to ZA into your grubby mitts.

Service normally costs a once-off fee of $45, but if you use the code AGS10TECH you get registered for FREE. i have zero rebate/stake in this code, i'm just passing on info. Use it, don't use it.

Not sure how it works out versus Amazon, but the nice thing is you can use this to order from pretty much anywhere in the world.

The once off $45 seems a bit fishy to cover all costs on their end... hmmm

they don't cover all costs. you still have to pay for shipping. they just allow you to ship from other countries buy providing a foreign address

edit : Bonus code!

When you choose to deliver something, if you punch in AGS5OFF you can get $5 off the delivery charge :)

exactly! so the awesome thing is, you can now buy from BestBuy or Shopto.net or other US/UK based retailers that refuse to ship to ZA. heck, even some Amazon stuff does not normally ship to ZA

shipping is a bit pricey though so it better be a REALLY good deal you're getting

Exactly, so if i purchase something that's already on the pricey side add to that the shipping fees, the costs in the end might not be worth it. It will have to be something REALLY REALLY special.

Correct sir. This is ideal for situations like the upcoming Black Friday.

takealot seems to be buckling under the load.
