The Collectable Thread

R90 if I remember right. That's with the booklet. # 2 Wonder Woman had a fold up cardboard chessboard (that was a mouthful).

Shit. That was what I expected. I think before I start something new, I have to finish up the Graphic Novel collection. The missus will hate it if I get my regular call order, graphic novels and a chess set every month.

In all likely hood they will be starting the Marvel Chess set after the DC one (maybe sooner, I don't know). So maybe by the time you finish with the Graphic Novel set, you can get that.

I would hope so...I still have 20 issues to go, so 40 weeks.

If there is a figure you would really like just for the sake of it, I'm sure if you phone Eaglemoss they can help you. These are probably so mass produced anyways, they probably have lots of them on hand.

I get the "special edition" stuff automatically, and with the bats set when I received the Batman on Batsignal figure it was broken. I just popped them an email and about a week later a new one was in the post. Also broken. So I sent another email and a week later the third one arrived. Third time lucky I guess, but the thing is they never asked for the broken ones back, or even proof there of. So if you are good with glue I can send you one of those figures if you want.

Jeez, that's awesome. I am pretty good with glue.

Perhaps I can backorder that stuff when there is a "sudden influx of money" around.

PM me a postal addy, will pop it in the post today or tomorrow. And it won't hurt to try later on I guess. And there's always guys online flogging their stuff, trying to get the newer stuff hehe.

I have the alternate Batman/Joker pair and the Batsignal. I think the Superman/Luthor pair and Globe will be part of the DC Chess set, which started from issue 33?

yeah my bat signal is in the post and i also have the alternate pair. And the lady at eaglemoss told me that it's part of the DC set so once i start that i'll prolly get those i just want to finish the batman one first.

And you said the chess board that came with the DC wonder woman was cardboard? can you show pls, i thought they would at least put in the same quality as the batman one

Do these collections actually pay off?

I have a valuable coin collection, that could help funding something in my later years/my kids' years or if I have my way only build more value over the decades. But new comics/models that don't date back to the 50's - do they hold much value in the collectors market?

Some Collectors are willing to pay serious cash for them.

Also have a big coin collection myself, mandela R5 coins, union building coins and even some coins twice my age.

Some do, some don't. If it's your passion/hobby then you can justify paying silly amounts for something like one trading card. I've spent quite a bit on this stuff over the years, and if I look back at some of my collection, I can get quite a bit for it.

Some comic shops have offered me quite a bit on some of the statues. For example, the Jim Lee Superman is easily going for $500 and up on eBay. I paid R680 for it years back. Frank Miller B&W Batman is about $200 on eBay, I got it for about R800 if I remember right.

Trading card wise I've sold a few, but nothing big. Have gotten an offer of R400 on my one venom card, but I'm holding out cause it's going for about R800 on eBay. A complete Marvel Masterpieces set (1995) can go for quite a few grand. The two mirage cards alone can be like R2000 and up. The 1996 is going for about R1200. For a packet with 5 or 6 cards in it. Ultra rare set that (I only have one card, a Hulk chase card worth a few hundred at best).

Art can go for a bit if it's a popular artist.

Don't know about some of the other collections that has been shared on here. I can imagine those cars being worth quite a bit. Game/movie collections probably not so much, but their values lies with the owner in what those mean to him/her.

^ This.

If it is your hobby, no amount is too big to get what you want. My comics, for instance, are priceless to me. Some you can find for R20, others are in excess of R1000. To me, they are all irreplaceable pieces of art that I have a massive fondness for.

I always take them out and show them off to people who visit, even if I know that they don't care too much for what I am showing them. Pride and Joy.

I've got a small coin collection, i have been collecting the coins since 2003.

I think i only have about 3 or 5 different full sets of countries money and a couple of stray coins from different places.

My father collected about 3 kruger rand coins, at the day he thought what the hell, lets buy them and now he is glad he did, so anything can be considered as valuable in a few years time, you should maybe go the a coin shop and ask them about it , they should be able to tell you what they are worth.
