The Crew - Coast to Coast (Beta Gameplay)

I played a bit of it and I'm quite impressed. Unfortunately it seems like the beta has ended now, only a day after I got my key. :(
Yeah I also played for a bit on Thursday, really not bad. Feels like a mix between Fuel, Test Drive Unlimited and some of the older NFS titles like Underground and Most Wanted.

I dunno, I'm really looking forward to this. More so than DriveClub, been too long since I had a good arcade competitive racer. I'll probably get it for PS4 when the time comes.

Yeah I can't wait for phase 2 of the beta which starts next Monday and runs until Friday. Will definitely be putting some time into it and also buy the game at some point (as soon as I can afford it).

So for you guys who have played the Beta, is it kind of NFS-ish in the handling?

Look, I'll give a detailed run down after tonight. For the 30 odd minutes I played it felt casual and I really didn't have much of a problem with it. I had to download the full 15gb to continue playing after the prologue.

damn... this is looking like the better option now compared to DriveClub

I dunno hey, depends what you wanting from a 'racing game'.

The Crew = extremely arcade like
Project Cars = extremely simulated
DriveClub = a nice mix of the two

That's how I would sum it up.

definitely don't want a sim. but there just seems so much more to do in The Crew to keep me going back to it

I get bored with the normal racing games very quickly

Yeah I smaak a lekke arcade racing game, along the lines of Undergrounds 2 and Most Wanted. But this game offers a lot more and I really like it.
Hope they don't stuff it up coz it looks friggen amazeballs.

Here's the thing. I definitely want a simulated racing experience which is why I will buy Project Cars. I can spend hours on a track, alone, just tuning a car to beat my own times. I have done so with Forza, GT5, GT6, etc.

I also love the idea of DriveClub, how it's connected to the world and your friends and having to beat their records and post your own etc. That again is kind of the appeal of above mentioned. DriveClub's attention to detail is also another point I want to get it. It is amazingly detailed and beautiful, from visuals to audio as well.

On the other hand (if you have three), you have The Crew, beautiful to look at, open road and wide areas to cover. You don't have any tracks per se, no invisible walls. You have an immense amount of activities to do. The story line and dialogue ain't the best and has been done to death. Though this to me will be one of those pick and play games where you can just loaf on the couch and relax and play. I love that they have made this such a mbig expansiveness to the game with seemless loading.

But the main reason I will be buying The Crew is for the ability of being able to just cruise, do what I want and when I want to. You pretty much have the whole world available straight out the box. If I just feel like driving from one end to the other at a casual pace I can do this. Or if I just want to waste 20min before having to go out, I can do it.

this is why it appeals more to me. just plain racing will keep me entertained for maybe a week, if that. That's why I loved the Burnout series. it went beyond just racing. and the hidden parts and stuff in The Crew will keep my OCD busy for a longer time

I have a couple of extra beta keys if you want to give it a try.
