Here’s When, Exactly, The Division Comes Out

Pre-loading for the next New Hotness, Tom Clancy’s The Division [official site], starts tomorrow on PC and Ubisoft have explained when they’ll let folks into the virus-trashed New York City around its March 8th launch. Bad news for the UK, I’m afraid.

In a blog post about the launch, Ubisoft explain that folks who’ve pre-ordered digital copies can preload the game from 9am PST tomorrow on Steam and Uplay (see this for when that is in your time zone). Yeah yeah, I know, “never pre-order”, but maybe you were one of the 6.4 million folks who played in the beta and you dug it – I don’t know you, man. And isn’t it nice to know that I have your back even if you do ignore my advice?

Caved and got it, most likely getting it for my gf as well.
Seems like it could be fun playing it together.

As long as you do not out level each other by a few levels you will have fun, otherwise it will be snoozefest for the highest level character. Bad guys levels in a mission is set by the character who makes the mission.

My buddy who has WAY more time to play than I do will have to make one character just to play with me ;-).

Luckily you can have 4 characters and they all share a common stash. There is no way to trade items with other people though.

So if I'm understanding that article correctly Pre-loading for us here should start from 7PM (9AM PST) this evening:

And the game will go live globally at 3:01PM on the 7th March (next Monday):

Does that sound right?

And what's the thoughts on a simultaneous globally launch? Bearing in mind that 6 million + tried the beta, are we going to see hours of server crashes, and huge lag issues if the entire planet starts playing at the same time?

Same thing for any MMO release, first day is always chaos.

The Division's file size across all platforms has been revealed. According to its listing on Xbox.com, the Ubisoft third-person shooter game is 32.29 GB on Xbox One. It is 29.8 GB on PlayStation 4, according to the PlayStation Store, while you will need 40GB of hard drive space to install the game on PC.

Pre-loading on Xbox One started today, March 2, while PC players can pre-load the game March 3. PS4 users, meanwhile, can get started a few days later, on March 6.

Seems there may be a bit of confusion between the time "servers going live" and "digital game release" time.

To me that says that while the servers will be live from 3PM on the 7th, digital versions will still only unlock at midnight in the US on March 8, 7AM for us.
