The Elder Scrolls Online Beta

The directory is only 30GB...

Though maybe it needs the extra space for unpacking archives and whatnot during the install.

I'd mail it to you if I could :p

Doesn't hurt to try it >.>

One day when we don't need Telkom for ADSL lines then I will have proper internet again. Thanks for the offer though Ly. :) I sent the key to my friend now. He didn't receive a beta invite and he actually wants to stop playing WoW and play ESO.

In Honeydew, Johannesburg. It's alright though since I'm not really prepared to pay the subscription fees. I'm thinking of giving my beta key to a friend of mine. Thanks Wyvern.

Imnot gonna buy the game at all, I cant afford to play anything with subs any more.

Btw Lycan! Did you ever get that postcard?

I think Telkom will be a necessary evil for a very long time :(

Nope, no post card! :( I would've let you know, otherwise :)

And moving at the end of this month so if it doesn't arrive I'll probably never get it

I made this because, apparently, some folks are currently busy playing The Elder Downloads Online at 190 kB/s ... *wheeze* RO DAH!

My apologies. I'm extremely particular about NDAs (people who post their BETA status to show off are a pet peeve of mine) and failed to read this one thoroughly. Checked it properly this morning — see below. Anyway, post amended — no harm, no foul.

Quote:4. Nondisclosure of Confidential Information. You acknowledge that ZeniMax, through the investment of significant time, effort, and expense, is providing You confidential and/or proprietary trade information, intellectual property, business information or materials as part of the Beta Trial and that ZeniMax wishes to maintain the confidentiality of its Confidential Information. As a material inducement to ZeniMax to enter into this Agreement and to permit You access to participate in the Beta Trial, You hereby expressly represent and agree that You will not disclose, nor make any use of, or benefit from, directly or indirectly, the Confidential Information of ZeniMax.

(a) “Confidential Information” as used in this Agreement shall mean any and all information or material, of every kind and form, in electronic or tangible form, relating to the Beta Trial, Game or any other ZeniMax products and services which are made available to You by ZeniMax under this Agreement, whether or not designated as Confidential Information by ZeniMax. Confidential Information includes, but is not limited to, all information relating to the Beta Trial, Your selection as a Beta Trial participant, the Game (including but not limited to information and ideas relating to the Game, software, software code, designs, graphics, rules, playing strategies, artwork, visual depictions, plot, theme, settings, characters, characterizations, skills, emails, screenshots, marketing emails, marketing and promotional plans, current, future or proposed products or services of ZeniMax, written or printed documents, announcements or prereleases, product samples, artwork, graphics, promotional and/or marketing items), the Beta Trial forums and other private ZeniMax forums, business and/or trade secrets, testing protocols, processes, and standards relating to the Game and/or associated products or services of ZeniMax.

This section states that we cannot disclose or use any of the information we find in Beta Testing for personal fame, such as making real-life bets with people that something in the game will be "This way instead of that." Going into more detail, it explains what information cannot be released, including
YOUR SELECTION AS A BETA TESTER PARTICIPANT. This is to prevent people from being contacted by organisations who wish to mine people for information for whatever reason. It also states that we cannot talk about any information we find in the game, such as Quests, perks, major game features, etc. If you tell ANYONE that you are helping to test TESO, you are breaking the contract that you signed with Zenimax and can be REMOVED FROM BETA TESTING.

Ok once you moved send me the new address and I will send you a new one :P

That's interesting BlackSwan, I didn't realize that we aren't allowed to tell people about being selected as beta participants. I can't remember seeing a NDA. Was that back when we signed up to be selected for the beta?

I'll have to be more careful in the future.

Most upcoming AAA MMO BETAs have adopted this policy, however, I was recently accepted into a few Korean BETAs (who have not) and thus dropped my guard where TESO was concerned! I just need to remember to always er on the side of caution as there's no way in HELL I want to be kicked from some of the BETAs I worked so hard to get into! :p

Is there anyone in the FourWays area that has the Beta Client downloaded? I desperately need the client as I got a BETA invite, but thanks to HELLKOM I cannot download as my "4mg" line only syncs at 1 mb...

Please let me know...if you are willing to share...

I have been reading the Massively MMO website for a VERY long time and I have very very rarely seen them EVER rip a new MMO, never mind a new big name MMO so this coloured me surprised:

http://massively.joystiq.com/2014/02/07/the-elder-scrolls-online-beta-is-absolutely-nothing-special/

This part got me laughing quite a bit:

"Let me tell you this: If you like looting crates, ESO leaves everything else for dead. There are crates and backpacks and boxes and barrels all over the place. And what are they filled with? Lockpicks. Tons of lockpicks. Lockpicks seem slightly more numerous than insects in this world, making it a wonder that anyone bothered developing locks.

I came across one locked item in the game, incidentally, which informed me that I could not pick the lock under any circumstance. So that's awesome."

The NDA is gone I hear.

Very interested to hear your feelings about the game after the weekend.
