The Elder Scrolls Online

@GazWorks

I think you nailed it on the head! I remember what it felt like to play my 1st MMO back when WoW launched. It was such a different experience and a completely new concept for me that I loved it (despite the game breaking problems back then). I swear we sound like drugies, trying to relive our 1st hit lol...

For me games these days are about friends. I think the fun of TESO atm is that im playing it with friends, levelling toons together and just having fun in PvP.

LoL I still don't understand this...

@clive

"It's really not that the game is bad, but that there's not enough content" Also something im battling with. From what I understand u have access to all the dungeons with a hard mode. Also as questing goes what many different ways can u ask to do a quest. What u said about DC area with different NPCs and locations can be used for any game or movie for that matter.

What im trying to find out is what will make a ground breaking MMO for u guys. Cause im 100% sure that this same conversation will be had for Wildstar and probably any MMO that comes out.

Because, as diablous pointed out, none of the quests or content are really memorable. I can go grind out my 10 VR levels in the other faction areas, but why would I really want to? I'm going to do the same thing I did in my own faction area, except this time I'll be killing 5 Clannfear instead of 5 bears.

I can't remember a tenth of what I did in most zones because it just wasn't interesting or varied enough. The fact that this is also the case in many other MMOs doesn't really mean it's not a problem. There's a very good reason I'm not playing any of those other MMOs.

ESO could have benefited highly from, ironically enough, being more like the singleplayer games. It should have had a freeform class system where players didn't select a class, but became a class by using its associated weapons and skill trees. This would have led to no single player's character being the exact same as anyone else and tons of interesting builds and combinations. It should also have had an open world where a player could go wherever he wants to quest, instead of being funneled through areas the developer set out for him to level in at that level. Content could be level-scaled with only certain quests and dungeons being level-locked.

These two things alone could have made ESO a very unique and interesting MMO, but instead we got a typical themepark MMO. That said, I don't want to sound overly negative because I did actually enjoy the game and I would definitely play it again. I just won't pay to keep playing it. It doesn't do anything to set itself apart from any other MMO on the market. Everything I can do in ESO, I can do in other MMOs as well, sometimes even for free.

awesome!

We are also part of a 30+ guild (basically players with families) which we can organize an invite for u. Just let me know

Anyone else still playing? Finally getting the alt-urge to try out a Sorc. Have note even started the VR content yet.

I log on to level my horse, but VR content has killed the game for me. It is just too much grind and schlep considering it is content that is better experienced with a new character. As for Sorc, i am surprised you have not done so sooner, of all the things to do in this game, roll a sorc or dragon knight and start from lvl 1 with it...i recommend that ;) .

I tried getting to VR 1 however the grind and doing the same old quests just covered with a different skin kinda got to me. Besides, the people i played with also left long before i did and playing alone to me just seemed worthless :(

I stopped after my first month ran out. Sounds like I got out just in time too, because the amount of insane bugs I read about was just too high. I read about one bug that allegedly made NPC mages in PvP invincible, meaning they could slaughter dozens of player characters without being harmed.

I'll play this again when it inevitably goes F2P.

Is it worh picking up this for a month? I'm trying to decide between AA patron and a copy of TESO to keep me busy in Oct.

If you haven't played it, yes i would say it's good for a month or two. Alot of emphasis on story telling , good voice overs and all that.

It is also probably alot more solo friendly than they want to admit (the lvl 1-50 content) , especially with their "phasing" tech. The zone change around you as you advance quests which puts you in different phases (instances) than players who isn't on the same stage as you. So good part, it creates a sense of player affecting changes in the world , bad part, you struggle to group up with players that is not in the exact same spot as you.

This is amplified that by the fact that each faction also got their own phase, even if they are in the same zone as you, you won't ever see them in the PvE zones . In the PvP zone you obviously see the other factions, but for the most part you're isolated.

I am only waiting for more meaningful progression past lvl 50 , then i would return again. As it is, the Veteran content is a major grind without any reward at all, plus it's a re-use of the lvl 1-50 content of the OTHER factions (Diablo style where the zone merely scale to a higher difficulty level)....still without any meaningful reward .

Cool i might try it then. The phasing sounds same as wow except the faction thing. I just need something until WoD launch in November.

Yes similar to wow, except it is entire zones. Imagine being able to quest in Ogrimmar as alliance at lvl 90 with the mobs being lvl 90 too, that is what ESO does.... And as you can imagine it makes for a great semi solo experience, not necessarily as good if you want to group with buddies.

Either way, i paid $60 for the box back at launch with 30days sub and felt i got my moneys worth. Didn't feel it was worth subbing after lvl 50 though. I would enjoy it more if iwas like gw2 style buy box to play.

Gave it some thought today and i there doesnt seem to be any reason to reach end game for me. So i might actually wait a bit more to see what happens later on.

Yea, that's i what i meant earlier, the lvl 1-50 is cool for building character/stories/questing , but there's nothing after lvl 50 but a big pointless grind. Veteran levels are artificial without any real character progression. I still enjoyed lvl 1-50 though , but looking at a game like ArcheAge , i'd think it would be "cheaper" to just play that, although admittedly ESO still got the better questing experience.

Yeah Archeage has meh questing in comparison but it has so many progression options. I figred i'd just get a patron sub in AA rather than paying R500+ for a month of ESO.

I loved TESO!

Got to VR12 and did some high level content and got completed kitted out. But once I hit there I couldn't bring myself to continue, ill play the game again in the new year I reckon.
