The F1 (Formula One) Thread

looks fucking stupid!
Now THIS is the future
Agree on both points - it looks stupid, and that MP4-X concept from McLaren does look awesome. Not entirely convinced by the covered wheel arches though. Think the Merc and the Ferrari closed cockpit concepts were equally impressive. Will go find images of them to post later.

Back to testing for one last day today before the season opener. Here's yesterday's timesheet and lap counts:

A good day all-round for Ferrari with Kimi completing a full race simulation, and posting the fastest testing time so far this year (he was on the new Ultra Soft rubber.)

Ferando managed a good bit of mileage again, Wehrlein posted the fastest time that Manor has seen so far, and Haas continued to struggle with reliability issues with Grosjean triggering 3 red flags during the day - he still put on a fair number of laps throughout the day though.

Here's Ted's Notebook summary for yesterday:

I don't think too many people expected to see this tweet go out just before the lunch break:

Certainly wouldn't read too much into it - this was after completing 68 laps in the morning session, bringing his testing tally to a total of 638 laps (2970 km).

It still makes me happy :P
:) You and me both!

Last of the testing timesheets for this years' pre-season running:

Another good day for Ferrari with Vettel once again topping the times, and clocking the most laps as well. "Of his four days overall in the SF16-H, Vettel topped the Barcelona timesheet on three occasions. With team-mate Kimi Raikkonen leading the way on two of his four outings, it means Ferrari was fastest on five of the eight days overall. Vettel's lap of 1m22.852s proved to be the best seen on the super-soft compound across both weeks. And it goes with Raikkonen's fastest lap on the ultra-softs from Thursday."

And the last installment of Ted's Testing Notebook:

:) So close now, so close!

Meanwhile, Red Bull have put forward an alternative to the awkward looking halo bar that Ferrari ran around with during testing. I think it looks a lot better than the flip-flop thing.

Thanks goodness someone put some thought into it! They can still move those A-pillars back a bit, for vision's sake, but it looks a million times better than the stupid wishbone.

Looks pretty sweet.
This weekend it is ON!
Hope Ferrari can continue the trend they set at Pre Season testing. However I believe Mercedes have something up their sleeve.
Hope poor Mc Laren can do better this season.

Mercedes did not deserve that :(
Great race after the farce that was Qualifying.

That Alonso - Gutierrez crash was horrific. So good to see the safety cell doing its job and Fernando getting to his feet. A decade ago an accident like that would have had a very different outcome.

Gutted for Kimi. The man just can't buy any decent race luck. Thrilled for RoGro and Haas - P6 in their first race is huge. Palmer was also impressive on debut.
