The F1 (Formula One) Thread

Ye, that sucks, Hamboi has all the luck in the world...

Anyways, good race for Brawn GP. Unbelievable, to think they only started racing the car 3 weeks ago when it was ready for the first time.

Australia is not a good track for the Ferrari's, none finished last year either. I hope reliability is not going to be a problem for them this year.

And Vettel and Kubica driving each other off the road when they were 2nd and 3rd with a few laps remainig = lolz

It seems like this was an amazing start to the season. I really hope to see at least 4 or 5 teams seriously competing for the constructors title this year.

Ever since SABC 3 lost the rights to broadcast the F1 I haven't watched a single race. I used to be a big F1 fan and staunchly supported Ferrari and Schumacher. I believe a year after his retirement is when Supersport snatched up the rights :(.

Absolutely. It sure looks like it. I would like to see the BMW, Torro Roso, Renault and Brawn cars mess McLaren up a bit. As long as my guys win! ;)
It seems Button is not as useless as I had thought.
You must remember, he had a bad car the last 2 years with it not being up to scratch and having the worst luck in terms of reliability. With a good car under him, he rocks!

/Resurrect :)

Not that many fans it seems after all. Sad, bru, sad. :(

Anyway, the Brawns (and Button) way out in front, and Ferrari playing catch-up. 4th 1-2 for Brawn this year. Awesome and exciting stuff.

Hamilton and his car seems to be struggling 'a tad' this year. I am not complaining. :D

What an interesting last 2 races.

Go Red Bull! First Vettel and now today Webber... It only took him eight years to get pole AND win!

It's getting close at the top.

Barrichello must be wondering what is going on with his luck too... he dropped behind Button as if from nowhere in the race, while being in front virtually the whole race... a pit screw-up didn't help either.

Poor Ferrari, I wonder if they are going to make a comeback later in the year.

Hamilton does not have the luck he had the first 2 years, nothing seems to want to work for him this year, not the car, his strategy, even on-track he got a puncture as if from no where.

Well done to Webber who won yesterday and did you guys hear who might be the new CEO of the FIA???

Well im gonna tell you anyway I was listening to Gareth Cliff and they said that it might be an ex Rally Driver :p

So, they are racing in Hungary, Budapest this weekend.

It should be a very exciting weekend and race. This racetrack is normally warmer than the last few races, which will fit the Brawns and they should be up to it again this weekend, but Red Bull has made quite a few changes and their 2 drivers have come off wins the least few races.

I just hope the Ferrari's can do something this weekend and maybe Alonso in his Renault will show the rest some tailpipes.

OMG did u guys checks that spring that shot up and hit Massa in the head during qualifying??? they say he is in a serious condition but will be out of the F1 for a while...

i hope schumi comes out of retirement to race for the rest of the season as the test drivers of ferrari are subpar and massa will only be back next year according to reports !

What news are you looking for?

They have been in the summer break, so no real testing could take place. Here are some worhtwhile mentions:

  1. 1. Schumi is not coming back - his neck is not strong enough yet, from the motorbike accident in Feb.
  2. 2. Renault to race at Valencia after winning appeal (they were suspended from this race due to unsafe conduct when they released Alonso with a loose wheel) instead they were fined $50,000
  3. 3. Romain Grosjean will drive for Renault alongside Fernando Alonso and replaces Nelson Piquet this weekend in Valencia.
  4. 4. Luca Badoer (Ferrari test driver) will drive in Felipe Massa's place.
  5. 5. Felipe Massa is recovering well at home in Brazil and no ETA on his return yet.
  6. 6. Force India has a huge aerodynamic update on their car coming to Valencia.
  7. 7. Mclaren has a fully updated car coming to Valencia, with which Hamilton won the Hungarian race.
  8. 8. BMW bringing some developmental changes including aerodynamic changes to Valencia.
  9. 9. BMW Sauber is withdrawing from F1 at the end of the season - they are looking for a team buyer.
  10. 10. Kimi Raikkonen’s first outing in the World Rally Championship came to a premature end when he crashed out of the Finland Rally.

Expect a fast race, with some of the highest average speeds. The Valencia circuit is a street-circuit, with several fast straights and slow corners.

Well, the race in Spa is sure leading towards one big upset, or something. The McLarens are nowhere to be seen, way down in 12th/15th.
Force India on pole and the Toyota's and BMW all kicking ass in qualifying.

Going to be a good race later today, I reckon.

And Ferrari takes it!!!!! woot first win this year... despite the bad news that Massa was injured and couldn't race and schumi who couldn't fill in for him(really wanted to see this though). Nice one Kimi(finally)

This is the thread for all F1-related discussions.

First race starts this weekend in Australia. It's going to be interesting to see what is going to happen with the new rules this year - slick tyres, limited amount of engines, etc.

I am a Ferrari fan. GoGo Massa and Kimi!
Ferrari made an interesting move by giving Massa the #3 car. He sure deserves it based on last year's performance!

Discuss. :)

Awesome thread! Me...huge F1 fan, follow it religiously! ;)

As for me, another Ferrari fan, spawned from the days when Jean Alesi & Gerhard Berger still drove for them. Needless to say they were the backmarkers those days, practically dead last...only until Shumi picked them up. That said, also been a Schumi fan since the old Benneton Ford days.

Now...I'm a Massa fan and hope to see him back behind the wheel real soon, Luca Badoer's a bloody joke! As for Kimi, not the greatest fan, so I just root for his car. :D

That all said, omg I'm still trying to figure out how the Force India team managed to have such a great car under them this weekend? Must be the Ferrari engines they're running on! lol.
