Also, I would have made it The Gaymer Thread - with caps you know?
Matter of preference
So, like, any of you in Sweden?![]()

The T-shirt manufacturer which won a David-and-Goliath battle with one of South Africa’s biggest brands is in hot water over a gay slur. Laugh It Off took aim at clothing store JayJays parodying the store’s branding, renaming it 'GayGaysâ€.
Laugh It Off is currently locked in a legal battle with JayJays, claiming the Pepkor-owned chain store stole one of its T-shirt designs.
Financial website Moneyweb wrote a story about the matter, and Laugh It Off responded in its newsletter, explaining its position, saying it didn’t mean gay “in the awesome, homosexual sense, but rather in the lame, weak and creatively bankrupt wayâ€.
When questioned on Twitter about why they chose to use 'gay' as a pejorative, the company responded;
"We mean gay as in rubbish or stupid, which is now an acceptable new use for the term. Look it up."
Sorry bro
As if today could get any more topical - did you guys see this?

Heh, I would wear that shirt for the lulz. I don't think the parody in itself is negative - the PR response was idiotic though.
People using "gay" in the negative sense is nothing new - I mean as gamers it's sort of part and parcel with the culture. I don't take offense to it (mind you, I rarely take offense to anything) - but I understand the bigger fight as well, which goes waaaaaaaaaay deeper into entrenched social paradigms and fgfdfsdfsgfgdss.
Point being, it's a bit stupid to go the route to defend the logo like "Oh we didn't mean gay as in GAY, we meant it as in REALLY SHITTY."
There's no real positive PR way out of that one.
Unfortunately I think you'll have a hard time finding someone from Sweden on an SA forum. Are you originally from SA?

I hate how people use Gay as an insult but don't get that by using it that way they are insulting the gay community
Ironically I know quite a few gay guys who use "Gay" derisively and insultingly themselves. But I suppose perhaps it's like how I use "Nigga" as an insult at times![]()
Well I didn't get it until someone pointed it out to me on another forum.
Qornea, I have met some gay people that are pretty much all of those things in the picture in the OPHahaha.
Can I say one thing, gay people are chaotic! We were at a trance festival one weekend, with all our shit neatly organized in our tent. A group of our mates, 3 gay dudes, came to join us and about 30 mins after that, EVERYTHING in that tent was strewn around like it was a yard sale. xD
Haha! I know gay guys who epitomise the stereotype, and gay guys who couldn't be further away from it.
I can't even tell you how many times I've been around people who say some seriously whacky things about gay people like we're all the same - then I chirp up and go "Yeah, I'm gay"...cue awkward silence.
I've been described as Max from Happy Endings kind of gay dude.
