The harsh truth - South Africa's multiplayer pings can't get better

What I would like to know is why I can't get decent latency anymore even for local things? A friend of mine who lives less than 10Km away and who is on the same ISP as I am can not get less than 100ms, let alone anywhere close to 50ms, when we play a game that I privately host. What gives?

If you are privately hosting the game..ie on your PC at the end of your dsl? line. Its going to depend in part whats going on in the cloud (network wise between you and your friend) Then speed will be limited by the slowest dsl line that you both run and then clearly anytihng else that is happening on your libne concurrently (netflix, pr0n, FB etc) I doubt you will get way better than 40 or 5 0 ms at best peer to peer.
