The latest FTTH neighbourhoods: others receiving 100Mbps upgrade

I'm done waiting. I've been trying since the beginning of the year to get our estate to get FTTH and their response has been the whole time that they're "waiting for a response from Telkom". Telkom doesn't have infrastructure even close to us while Dark Fiber Africa's backbone is running approx. 3km from here with multiple other providers willing to connect to them.

So I've signed up for LTE 50Gb+50Gb today. The speed and pricing is about the same as FTTH.

Try getting Vodacom to lay fibre to your estate. They are currently busy with the estate next to ours and if there's enough interest then we will be getting it too. It's a long process though.

Our estate's management is pretty set on Telkom for some reason.

Oh, and correction on my previous post. The DFA backbone is 1.2km from our estate. So getting ftth from any provider who partners with DFA should be much quicker to get than anyone else who doesn't have infrastructure in the area.

....

Why does telkom lay fibre in the neighborhoods least likely to pay for it, at least for Durban anyway.
