Nope, this isn't a thread full of motivational pictures and quotes. Well except if people do post them.

DieGrootHammer is starting his studies and some of us were chatting how we can do with some extra motivation to finish our personal projects. So Avatar suggested that we create some way to hold each other accountable. Maybe getting together on Discord and talking or posting here. We can figure out some ways to get it right.

So this is the start. Hopefully of something great and of getting things done!
 
If anyone would like to join me tomorrow morning at 10. I will be doing some coding for 2 hours. Anyone wanting to get something done during that time is welcome to join me. Either here or we can organise some other way of communicating. 2 hours of solid work is a good start.

I might be busy with either family or repairing a washing machine. If not, I'll join you on discord. Does discord have a mobile app? For those away-from-pc projects?

I've never used Discord but will have a look tomorrow. :)
 
I'm game for this. I have to finish up a pre-start assignment for my studies, and will be busy with that tonight and tomorrow. I will clock in some time tomorrow morning with everyone as well, to get us motivated to finish up our work and get our asses into gear. Discord or TS, I don't mind.

I'll probably be busy with work on Sunday as well, depending how much I can get done today and tomorrow. But for anyone needing some encouragement and motivation, let me know and I'll jump onto Discord or TS or here or whatever.

So, as to get things going for motivation, here is what I am working on, and what the goals are I want to achieve:

I will be doing some normal work that needs to be done for Monday. It's standard reports and stuff, but seeing as I am not availabile next week during the week as I'll be in class, I have to get it done. Some of my employees are coming in tomorrow morning to finalize some last minute work for a project or two as well, and to help me complete some of the reports.

I will then, for my studies, be doing a full organizational analysis of our business. This is the pre-work for my studies that will be used as a foundation for the rest of the course to build off of.

My goals in the short term is to get all this work done, and do some pre-reading on different business analysis models for my studies. Each year there is a prize for the best student and for the best syndicate group, and I don;t care which one I win, but I will win one of those prizes. That is for damn sure
 
I start my course on Monday, I haven't studied anything since I finished high school. Kinda stressing the closer it's getting :p
 
Awesome. It looks like there's a few of us who are working towards something.

I currently run a website that generates a passive income for me. Once every two months I have to spend a couple of hours with it though and I want to try and automate that more. I want to make it an hour of my time that it takes up max. So tomorrow I will take two hours and save myself some time in the future.

I've actually got a couple of idea's for similar things, but the implementation is waaaaaaay above my head right now, so I need to swot up first. :( For now I'm trying to code a project up to automate some.. erm.. programs running on my server that.. er.. populate my hard drive with some things.

I'm busy completing my LLB while kicking off my internship at MyBroadband. Cool to see people in similar situations and awesome that we can come together to support one another :D
 
2 Hours work time starting now. Going to try and make it a regular thing if other people would like to join.

Even just getting in the two hours a week to work on your website will prove absolutely invaluable input you add to your project. Plus it give you enough time for the rest of the day for other stuff, rugby and gaming.

Automate? If you're referring to something with a beard then why would you be coding? Pm me :)

I've ditched the bearded software ages ago, I'm using a similar but better one. I'll PM with details. But no, the bearded one is for a specific form of media, and I'd like to automate something that's a little more niche. Similar concept, though. I'm trying to do it in Java and C#, 99% as a learning exercise. I'll put it up on github the second it's workable, so if anyone want to help out and teach me Java and C# in the process, it's there.. :D

Well done, guys!

I started at about 08:15 with the washing machine, replaced the component on the PCB that our electronic engineer pointed to, but now none of the motors are turning.. So new PCB it is. :( Still, got a lot of work done, and spent time with the family in law too.

Something we should also consider in future is a "work calendar" where we can block out time we'll be working, again to keep each other accountable, and then cross pollinating. F'r instance, if someone needs mechanical or engineering input, I'd be willing to help; or if Soli needs feedback on his site, or Hammer needs someone to tell him that his Powerpoint has a pretty background.
