The New Intel Processors , Haswell series ( 4770K )

So the new processor's are coming out (the 4th generation.) Sounds nice i guess. But for a gamer, we don't really need the onboard graphics (no matter how good they are) . Hopefully this means the ivy bridge 3770k's and 3570k's will drop in price (but we all know they won't) . I guess if you are wanting to make some super multitasking pc they are cool. I however don't really see the point in anything above a i5 3570 for the standard "gaming pc" , and the normal desktop consumers.


What you guys think about them?
 
If you have a first, second or third generation i5 or i7 the new lineup is going to mean nothing to your gaming experience really. What does suck though is they are using a new socket type 1150 so of your had a low grade cpu on a 1155 board you can't upgrade.
 
Very mixed bag but no denying that it's an extraordinary bit of architecture. Combining voltage control onto the die makes the fluctuation almost zero. And speed wise it's blinding even if it could have been faster as a pure CPU die. But quite pricey and not so much faster that it's a no brain upgrade as 478 to 775 or 775 to 1366 were. Ai mense.
 
The biggest thing about the new series is not the CPU it is the support for more USB 3.0 ans native SATA 6 ports. This allow the motherboard vendors to do more things with the socket. Also the Haswell CPUs have lots of things that were previously on the top of the range motherboards built in now. The power consumption is also much less, this won't help much for gaming, but for ultrabooks and mobile things this is great. The Haswell CPUs have sttill got a 10% increase in speed though - something to think about if you still have a first gen i-something. For gaming the i5 4670K is a nice upgrade for an older CPU.
