Oh! Now I remeber! Finnaly! After 3 weeks of strugling my ass off, I managed to get my 3D software downloaded again.

oooo, 3d, Which software?

I did my first bunch of 3D training in Max :)
I ended up using Gmax a bit when it came out as it was more suited to the stuff I was doing but since output formats for other engines have been improved since 8 I have moved back to outright Max for everything.

The reason I chose max is because it's the program used on games like C&C since renegade and all of Ubisoft montreal. :p So it had a pedegree to me.

What do you do?

Well that's a tricky question
I am a CTO for a Corporate Holding Company and Own the company that started iGame along with iBurst
Before that I used to Develop Games :)
I play around with 3D modeling in my spare time but don't get nearly enough time to focus on anything in the 3D realm at this stage

Nice, those are pretty good, when you say professional designer, you mean in 3D right?
Some guys here might be familiar with some of my stuff, I worked on the Project reality Team, that was inbetween two jobs after studying, and did the base models for the Challenger and Land Rover RDV for the Mod

**The Rest of the stuff in the screenies like the soldiers are not mine though, they were done by this awesome designer based out of the UK
I have a load more stuff but nothing I would put next to that Challenger :)

Thanks, feels like a lifetime ago though, back then I was intent on going into 3D professionally and I sort of got sidetraceked, fell in love with the Corporate world and became a network engineer

I used to get stuck on details, that was my biggest issue, all the great artists believe that if you get bogged down on detailing one piece you will never finish the whole, which was the case on many of my projects.
Best advice is to keep at it, also if you have some spare cash lying around get the stuff from 3D Total, their texture pack alone make a massive improvement to any design.

I would be able to give you the base bluescreen rendered files for the RDV and Tank, but would have to find them first, lol I think they are amongst my 10 000 max File Disks.
The stuff for the final renders I can't give you a I did not do them

Yeah sure, as soon as I have sorted out my storage system and have found the files I'll pass them along, no real problems there and you'll have to excuse the character models alongside the RDV, lol it was inserted for scale

I'll check what else I come up with as well, might be one or two of my earlier items that interests you.
You said you wanted to study model composition, you can start doing that anytime, go to Turbosquid.com and start looking around at some of the free models on their DB, they have some great artists, but most of their models are paid for.
I know this one guy who regularly puts his models up there for free, I know I used him as well when I was starting, although his stuff is mostly character based.
Can't remember his username but I'm sure there would be more like him

lol yeah I used to use a cube as reference point
You also might want to decide on if you are trying to learn composition of models for stills or for animation as well
The two have vastly different approaches, stills you can sit and concentrate all your detial on one side of the model, animation, low poly, whole different ballgame

Yeah, my work is mainly stills, I tried dabbling in a few animations, but it didn't do for me. My main goal is to compile all my stuff into a graphic novel/webcomic for the story behind all those works. So along with the 3D stuff I'm practicing scetching on the side.
