For stills, standard rendering is fine and 3 minutes is fine for very high polys at 3000x2000 resolution. Some guys I've asked who go over the billion poly mark in some of their work let it gender for hours at similar resolutions.
 
Raven, if you ever do large renders, using some of the 3rd party tools for Max, setup a drone machine and use the second one to setup a rendering farm, this cuts down on soooo much rendering time and is practical for those super renders

As I said. 3 Minutes is fine, I'm patient, I'm not doing anything professionally so I'm not gonna spend all my time and money into setting up farms and servers. Besides, I rarely ever go over 2 million polys myself.

I have my own company which runs iGame as a Joint Venture WITH iBurst
I am also involved in about 3 other projects at this stage
 
Oh wow had it abit wrong there :), so besides that

what is it that you do? networking? Running servers for clients etc?
 
I'm a network engineer, so I basically do Network Architecture and Infrastructure planning
Although at present I function as a CTO for a Corporate Holding Group we are working with in the Eastern Cape
 
then i imagine things go "quiet" and then go "Very very busy"

atleast thats how my job tends to go, IT = Chaotic at times
