The Official "MyGaming" Anime Thread

Dropped Bleach at episode 174 when they injected filler into the middle of an arc.
Dropped Naruto at Shippuuden 18 because I never really liked any of the characters in the first place (except Hinata, but she barely gets screen-time).
Not starting on One Piece because I don't fancy catching up on 500-odd episodes when there is so much else to watch.

In other news - spent the past 4 days rewatching Sword Art Online - I enjoyed it much more due to not having to wait a week per ep :p

Watching SOA now, kind of sucks when they enter that new game and they have that "Elvish/Pixie" look. Otherwise it's really good.

I think it's slightly distracting at that point, the deviation in tone.

It's not even moderately comparable with the changes in the novels that follow :p

But the deviation was always going to happen, because it's no longer a question of fighting for your life.

I think that's why I got over the change after the 1st few ALfheim episodes. I understood that the story's focus changed.

Been enjoying Eight Dogs of the East, was also giving 'Blast of Tempest' a try but the characters are not particularly likable.

I am reading the weirdest Manga

I've been going through some of my old anime DVDs (before I sell 'em all off). Recently watched:
New Gal Force
R.O.D OVA (Read or Die)
Ghost in the Shell
New Fist of the North Star

And many more to follow.

It's pretty old (aired back in 2001/2002) but it had a similar theme - in .hack//SIGN's case, the game (called The World) was also a VR type MMO, and had resulted in the deaths of a few players, but rather than the entire player-base being trapped it focuses around a single player who is unable to log out. He/she (they don't make the gender clear until the end, so I won't spoil it) encounters some other players who try and investigate, both on and off-line to try and figure out what's going on.

It has a few similarities with SAO - Tsubasa (the main char), is very much a solo player and avoids other players, the VR world, and a thread of romance towards the end; but there were a few key differences - Tsubasa was trapped due to an in-game entity (AI), the series pacing is a lot slower and there is much less focus on action (almost none actually), Tsubasa suffers from some amnesia, and has no actual memory of what occured in the game before he/she awoke.

I was drawn to the series because of its setting, and also its music - which was composed by Kajiura Yuki; she is probably one of my all-time favourite composers (she also did sound-tracks for Noir, Tsubasa Chronicle, Mai-HiME and, surprise surprise ... Sword Art Online)
