The Official "MyGaming" Anime Thread

Are you making a comparison of Fullmetal Alchemist and Brotherhood or Brotherhood and the manga?

Then you can't realy make a comparison of the two. Its like apples and oranges.

FMA started out following the manga then it caught up and deviated from the manga so the anime had its own ending that did not follow the original story.

Brotherhood was released many years later after the manga had been compleped so it stayed true to the original story.

In my opinion Brotherhood is vastly superior to the original.

Are you using the myG app or a web browser?

I'm using the native browser but il check myG out.

Terror is a very good show just be warned it is going to pace itself very well so expect developments to come a little slower than what you are expecting.

Leorio serving up some justice on HxH this week.

+100000000. I have seen both FMA anime and brotherhood is better in every conceivable way. The first iteration was shit in comparison.

I laughed more than I had expected during this scene in tonight's episode, their expressions are priceless!

"Lights flicker on, one by one, illuminating my path. I hope they also light the way to my future. And i hope that, at the end of that path, I'll have changed for the better." - Ohana Matsumae

Hanasaku Iroha, should give it a watch. It's a slice of life coming of age teen romance drama. Now don't let that scare you I found it quite entertaining. The cookie cutter characters are to be expected from a show like this but they fell into place quite well. I never felt droning or boring even though the latter episodes, and I actually watched it in earnest without taking a break. Give it a watch you won't be disappointed.

If you have not started watching Zankyou no Terror, then start now. It's Shinichirō Watanabe's latest creation and it is wickedly smooth. Watanabe must have watched Death Note and thought to himself what if I could make something similar but based on realism? The answer to that is Terror in resonance.

Every episode up till now oozed class with it's dialogue, animation, characters and story, it truly feels like Death Note but it still is different, perhaps I should watch more before I create presumptions based on a show that is only 5 episodes into it's life. The latest episode aired tonight and it just dropped a bombshell of suspense on it's viewers (myself included).

So, before I feast on the mecha anime suggested, I decided to check out this Hunter x Hunter thing he keeps harping on about... 2 episodes in this feels like standard fare Shonen (not necessarily complaining about that). How good is it, Glordit? The 2 episodes I've seen have me intrigued.

Sorry for the late reply was at work until about 15 minutes ago.

Right! Hunter x Hunter.

While it is a shonen show much like Bleach, One Piece and Naruto, alas why do I think HxH is just so much more?

The characters themselves make the show so magical (most of the gif's I have posted are from the lighter side of the show) and I really appreciate the work Yoshihiro Togashi and MADHOUSE has put into the series to make it a cut above the rest.

Initially it's a bit slow as they introduce many of the characters but, the pacing is very well done with nail biting build ups to extremely satisfying fights. I can speculate that from the Yorknew Arc (episode ~39) it starts to get very good with a huge climax at the end of the Chimera Ant arc.

I also appreciated how every character is treated more or less the same, even lesser characters have vital parts to play and they are very rarely forgotten. Of Course unless they are used as a means to an end. Even the less predominant characters are smooth and very likeable. I don't believe I have disliked one yet, while initially you think 'Oh here comes another plot mechanic to push the main characters into a new plateau of power and thusly move the story', there is always something else going on in the background. Even the antagonists are enjoyable and at some point they even get their own screen time which was quite a treat to watch.

Plus the soundtrack is J-pop at it's best.

PS if you do watch it, let me know how you felt at the end of the Chimera ant arc, your thoughts and emotions may be tossed in a state of despair.

Just watched Akame Ga Kill episode 6....holy crap!! I didn't see this coming!! Watched yesterdays episode of One Piece, oh man, give me more Law and Dofflamingo, please!! :)

Getting Guilty Crown and Shiki, finally :)

Started watching Tokyo Ravens, hmm, looking nice :)

9 episodes in and I'm hooked. I must admit, the Hunter Exam arc reminds me a lot of the Chuunin Exam arc in Naruto.

One piece is getting good, just disliking the pacing of the show at the moment.

Guilty Crown was... meh, had a good concept but felt badly excecuted. Maybe I should make an effort to complete it.

***EDIT***

This is a Big Middle Finger to Manga Entertainment in the UK.

Seriously, first you have one sub style which is standard not the easiest to work with specially when converting VOB to .srt and .ass. Then you drop the subs for the lyrics at some point, and half way through the season you switch over to a different font. Let's not begin on the translation quality.

I have been struggling for 4 hours to get the timing right and it's still off.... Looks like I am going to have to do this old school and type set, time and compile my own subs.

***EDIT 2***

It appears that phrase; 'Polishing a turd' stands with some anime DVD releases as well, CQ of 18-22 renders almost identical results. CFR from 500kbps to about 2000kbps (which is bordering a 720p BD) renders the same results. Maybe I should remember that the original source is about 7 years old so that could attribute to the okay-ish quality.

This does not mean I have forgiven you Manga UK, yet.

Anime at 0:53 pls (the one with the red head knight girl and dagger girl)

also the boxing one at 1:12

At :0:53 it's Sacred Blacksmith 1:12 it's Hajime no Ippo not too sure if it's the OVA or series (A New Challenger). Could possibly be as the original is also shown.

At least I find Manga UK's DVD sets slightly more affordable than, for example Aniplex USA.

And I tend to find translation issues with most of the DVDs I own - sometimes it's a case of the translators altering something to make a bit more sense in English, and other times it's just plain horribly wrong.

Been watching hunter x hunter the new one.

What an awesome show. Hey I am a teenager pulls a face

Everyone thinks "he is a teenager:eek:"

As an example; I got a Yu Yu Hakusho Boxset, perfect TL on the subs and no banding or bad source footage was used, it is an import from the USA by FUNimation. My Naruto DVD sets from Manga UK are an absolute joke, missing subs, bad TL questionable source footage, it has such terrible interlacing at some points I can't watch it without using a filter, but hey it was cheap! :D

Oh ... my bad - I got Manga UK and MVM Entertainment crossed.

That being said, both my Sekirei and Ah! My Goddess Season 2 sets are Manga UK numbers, and I haven't come across any issues in terms of either quality or translation (and by this I mean the translations aren't much worse than any other publishers). Not that I would know anything about Naruto ...

Well the subs are basically a direct translation from the English dub, so names are reversed and a lot of the jokes are lost... in translation. I have Sengoku Basara and Highschool of the Dead from Manga UK as well and have had no problems with them. Perhaps it was just Naruto in particular they had quality problems with, I will admit that it has aged Naruto launched in 2007 and a lot has changed with regards to animation style, quality and terms of compression.

*edit*
For the first time in months I actually enjoyed the latest Naruto Shippuuden episode. It felt like it has lost all meaning of the word shonen but it came back tonight. I got a little nostalgic when I saw Team 7 back together again.

Naruto Manga is coming to a close with The final: Naruto the film (yes that name is confusing) to be released on December 6, 2014 as the (you guessed it) final film in the series which will be a tie in with the manga, perhaps to give closure to the series. While I see some critics to it all. "Naruto's New Era Opening Project" while it could be the end of Shippuuden it may be the start of a new era in Naruto.

My personal Speculation would be that Naruto does not become Hokage, but some one else does. Naruto becomes a Sage much like his previous master which to me suits his personality much better.

While I am on the topic of shonen HxH it is soon to end as well! (pointing this out to Dee and Tsar!) To be perfectly clear it is entering hiatus and MADHOUSE is going to start production of a new show.

*edit 2*
OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG! Tower of God has started again!
