The Official "MyGaming" Anime Thread

The second I am done with my exams I am going to binge watch shows in a day. It also makes it easier that I resigned from my job to finish off everything, needed a change of pace. I needed more time to watch anime and game.

Did you resign in order to complete your studies?

Yes, I saved up everything and said fuckit to Mass-mart and left. Now hopefully I can be finished by this semester 2 more exams stand in my way One of them will be easy but the other, 3rd year lit is not so nice. It's been a while ride over almost 8 years (changed majors and messed around too much) but I can easily say I paid my way through it all myself!

I started my undergrad in 2010, I'm graduating end of next year. Changed majors twice, and took completely unrelated electives. And to stay on topic, Dragon Ball Super has bad-ass music!

Right, so what's going to be your new occupation?

I went from NDINFO to a BSc in Enviro Sciences to a BA in English and Geo. Luckily I could keep my previous credits. So here I am!

To be blunt I had been working retail for about 6+ years at that stage, my last job was purely commission I was earning no basic. I did make more than enough (I am meticulous with finances) so I could save more due to me making more. I enjoyed the work, but I felt like I was needed else where so in the first week of February, I just emailed my resignation and never went back.

Right, so what's going to be your new occupation?

At this stage I don't know I will have a BA in Geography and English so my options are fairy broad. I am looking at environmental consulting or teaching but I will cross that bridge when I get to it.

*on topic*
Really need to get the last few episodes of InuYasha done so I can move onto the The Final Act.

Whoa, I just went from BSc Math to IS to CS, so not too drastic a change. It's been a lot of fun though, no regrets.

I've been meaning to watch Inuyasha for quite a while now, it seems to be one of those anime you just can't afford not to have seen.

InuYasha is so good! When I started watching it back in January, it felt like I was watching Dragon Ball Z all over again. Love-able characters, great chemistry between them all, awesome bad guys, strong plot and it's all tied together really nicely.
I found myself liking some of the secondary characters a lot more than than the primary ones. Sesshomaru is such a bad-ass you just can not, not like him.

*EDIT*
I could have probably done a BSc if I had not been working to pay everything off. It's very doable but you just have to research so much, which ramps up the workload. I also it felt like what I had learnt in previous years was not really being applied. English is fun in it's own ways but UNISA is somewhat limited to choices when choosing literature. I assume if I choose to do a Masters I can do it on more modern literature and manga, but Geography is my passion!

Goodnight All, will download all that which I want to catch up on in a month or two. In the mean time I will re-watch Magi S1 and S2.
Cheers kitsune-chan, oyasumi.

The last anime that made me feel like that was the redone Hunter x Hunter, obviously not to be the same extremes, but it really surprised me. I'll get the first few episodes and see where it leads me to.

I've noticed that, even those courses that seem to have a lot of module options really don't have much choice. My first 2 years I did at UCT and amongst the courses I registered for were Astronomy, Mandarin, Human Evolution, and Philosophy of Psychology and Mind. & it was only because they were fun. Compare that to having to choose between Calculus and Algebra.

InuYasha is one of those shows that pacing never lets it down, there is always something interesting and even between the arcs the little filler it has, you won't be bored.

I actually picked up HunterxHunter when it was at around episode 50 because /r/anime was raving about it so much. Initially thinking it was going to end soon, I though I could finish it quickly. I had known about the manga and the previous OVA's and series before but never got around to watching them. Little did I know it was going on for another 100 episodes and every single one was amazing.

*EDIT*
It's finally happening! Expecting a BD/DVD release early next year, been waiting 2 years so whats a couple of months more!?

Any input on Tengen toppa gurren? I actually won the Lazengann action figure a few years ago, but I have never watched the series, I don't even know what it entails :wtf:

One word to describe it, GAINAX

It's crazy and stupid and full of heart felt moments, that are juxtaposed against a myriad of colours and gigantic robots doing ridiculous things. It's was a fairly popular and still is, and often shows up on "introduction to anime" lists.

Thanks :D, you've watched an array of series hey. The only experience I have with mecha anime is Rah-Xephon and Neon Genesis Evangelion.

Sometimes I think I have watched too much, then realize how little I have actually seen.

The mecha genre is huge, and it's not always about gigantic robots. Very often they are used as a smaller part of the plot and also to full in the action sequences, as seen in Code Geass, which is known more for it's plot twists than it's mecha.

I've been watching anime since I was a wee lass, so I'd say I have a fair amount under my belt, yet there are oodles of 'popular' series that I've never even heard of

Just waiting for my exams to end, and for our uncapped line to be installed, then I will delve into the copious amounts of anime the internet has to offer. :D

I normally browse /r/anime to see whats popular in the current season and then make a note to actually watch the show being praised/promoted. GATE, Boku Dake and Parasite come to mind (I have not watched them). Other times I do and I wish I had watched it earlier like JoJo's, Mononoke and Bakemonogatari. Or I just randomly choose something and find it to be amazing.
At this stage I am just trying to watch shows from the 1970's up to about 2010~ but that is not working out as 6 years of anime is a whole bunch.

*off topic*
What are you currently studying?

See that's exactly what I'm talking about, I don't recognise any of those that you mentioned :wtf:. I'm studying LLB through Unisa, completed 14 of the 40 modules so far, will be by 20 by the end of the year, hopefully.

UNISA! How are you finding it so far? Personally their standards have dropped dramatically over the past couple of years, from when I started, but maybe because I choose to point out their faults all the time.
Going for 480 Credits, I wish you good luck! Technically I should have gotten 360 credits but I managed to get away with 336 for some reason.
