The Official "MyGaming" Anime Thread

There's no good ecchi anime out lately.

Y'know - now that you mention it, there is actually quite a shortage of blatant ecchi shows this season. Nothing more than the odd fan-service shot, although Brynhildr had a full-on censored scene last week. But then again the censors probably just got a little over-excited again.

Not that I'm bothered by the lack, particularly - I have plenty to keep me busy, and I HAVE been enjoying my Ranma 1/2 boxset :D

Hey!! What a coincidence! I agree with you :D

Actually, you guys should probably check out this season's series No Game, No Life as well. It's surprisingly clever, and not at all afraid of poking fun at various tropes regularly found in anime. ;)

Whaaaaaaaaaa~ We agree on a lot of thin- Oh wait...

Just want to add that if you do watch Bakemonogatari, you may want to watch a dub or if you have a proper grasp of Japanese (like Shadowfox) you will understand the show a lot more than if you are newish to anime. The dialogue is so involved and has so many turns that occasionally some people may find it hard to follow. Despite that it is just so good.

Hahaha, leave it to you to know about these things :)

No Game, No life if I recall there was a reference to "Danky Kang" (Donkey Kong) in the latest episode.

No dubs for this series - they're being released (everything up to Nisemonogatari) with subtitles only. You can't translate this series to English - all the subtlety would be lost - and this series is made by its dialogue.

I know the complaint from the dub-watchers is that they can't read fast enough or they find subs too distracting etc etc ... well ... my response to that is ... learn to read fast :p

If Aniplex ever announces a dub I will personally track down their HQ and blow it up ..."whistling:

WARNING POSSIBLE SPOILERS

Bakemonogatari is part of the Monogatari series of light novels that has been turned into a anime series.
The basic premise is about Koyomi Araragi, whom saves Hitagi Senjōgahara from a fall, he realises she weighs almost nothing and offers her help to bring back her weight. This then sends him down a path to help others or their spiritual plights. Coincidentally they all seem to be women he ends up helping so there is that constant 'hareem' factor in it. Despite this, there is very little fanservice but a large amount of innuendo.

It has so much charm, personality and character than anything else I have seen in a long time. I would like to say there is main character but I would be more correct in saying there are more lesser albeit main characters as well. The show centers around a group of people, in Highschool and Junior high. Araragi Koyomi and Hitagi Senjōgahara could be called the main character's of the show - it would be fair to call them the main progression of the show. Suruga Kanbaru, Mayoi Hachikuji, Tsubasa Hanekawa and Oshino Meme and Shinobu are all other characters that play a vital part to press the story. The series is broken up into varying "scenarios" involving these characters, where they are all intertwined.

If you do end up watching it you may be a bit lost as to why some events have occurred prior to the initial series, and you are just given glimpses of what has transpired prior to Bakemonogatari fear not the show does not follow chronologically but the following series do fill in the gaps that you thought you may have missed. I really believe that it wouldn't have worked any other way, it's really like a story being told in fragments so everything comes together in the end.

***EDIT
Now that I think about it, I would have (if I had a choice in the matter) rather have chosen Tsubasa Hanekawa, it felt like Araragi was forced into his relationship but then later also fell in love with Hitagi Senjōgahara, she seemed too open and direct for me to actually like. Although... Suruga Kanbaru has this whole athletic thing going for her too bad she is a rezu :(

I like your method of spelling "dub" :D

She was officially my favourite of the series, with Mayoi in close second. Mind you - I don't think there was a girl in that series I actually disliked.

lolicon~ >_> :p

I agree all the women had their own personalities I just liked Tsubasa a tiny bit more, Tsubasa can be mai waifu~ :3

Case and point. I can't recall exactly where in the show, possibly the first few episodes but Eren say's something in the lines of "The enemy is right in front of us" in the English dub: "It's do or die". I cringed right then and there. On the spot. Stopped watching and sat for a few seconds in amazement.

Another episode I remember quite well - on my Kiddy Grade DVDs. I can't remember the exact line, but I do recall watching it, listening to what the character said, reading the sub, and disagreeing. And then the English soundtrack was even more off par. Three methods, three subtly different meanings (actually, in the case of the En dub, it wasn't even close).

I honestly think they go with the best fit when it comes to lip-synching, as long as it's somewhere in the general area of what was being said in the first place.

Enjoying attack on titan.

Also watching space dandy. What a hysterical anime. Watching the english dub and the there are voices from fairytale like the narrator lol.

So if you have been reading Bleach lately Ichigo finally showed up to the party - took his sweet time. The end of Bleach is almost here, I am, excited to get a conclusion to the current arc that felt like it would never end and yet I feel a little sad to see it go. I was a massive anime fan watching started with episode 10 way back in November of 2005. Watched it religiously (minus the fillers) up until it's final episode in October of 2014. It was about 1 month (give or take) short of a 8 year run.

Perhaps Tite Kubo will work on something else after Bleach, I have come to enjoy his art style and storytelling.
