The official Witcher 3 thread

Does this story follow from the second? Haven't played past the tutorial on that one.

It better :)
Yeah, it should, although it might take place a couple of months after the events of TW2.

The good thing about this game (even though sadly it will be the last), is that because of all the choices in the game, there should be lots of replayability. Witcher 2 alone had at least 10 different endings depending on choices.
This is probably my most anticipated game now.

Ah that sounds awesome thanks, think I'll get started on Witcher 2 then :)

You might want to hold that thought for just a little while.

Flash, who is known in The Witcher modding community for his excellent mod for The Witcher (1) and who is now working on The Witcher 3 at CDPR will release his combat rebalance mod for The Witcher 2 on the 20th of this month. Download should be about 2GB.

Changelog for mod can be found here.

It looks like this mod will change the game quite a bit and I know I'm starting another playthrough as soon as it releases. :D

Thanks, I started witcher 2 but haven't played that far, seems like a game that's pretty in depth.

If you haven't played far yet and plan on using this mod I would suggest you don't play any further and rather start a new game when the mod releaes. I read on the CDPR forums that the mod should work with your savegames, but because of all the changes it is recommended to start a new game to prevent the mod from messing up your character development etc.

Thanks I'm not very far at all, not quite sure what the mod does (I hope it doesn't make it harder) but I think I will try it out.

Awesome thanks man, just installed the game earlier today :). Guess I'll wait for that.

You can check the changelog in the link I posted, but basically it will address a few of the issues with how combat works in the game. The game can be quite difficult in the beginning as a result of how they made character development work, e.g. you have to unlock the ability to block attacks from all directions and other stuff that should have been unlocked from the beginning. Geralt will now start with those skills already unlocked and the mod includes a few other changes like balancing issues, experience gained, new animations, etc. There is actually a lot of changes so your best bet to get an understanding of what the mod does, would be to read the changelog. :p

Cool, hope you enjoy it. I am really looking forward to playing the game with this mod myself.

Awesome dude going to replay that shit :D

Cool... I must say, I enjoyed the game very much just standard as-is. I think it was difficult at first, but at the end I was able to beat everyone... Granted, I always only play the game on Normal difficulty. I don't find it entertaining to keep dying all the time.

However, I'll give the mod a try for my next playthough... the game apparently has something like over 10 different endings depending on choices and I've only had 3 or 4 so far.

I just picked up The Witcher 2 on the steam sale over the weekend. I'm really excited because I just bought an HD 7950 too! I really need to put that bad boy to work on something other than poorly optimized console ports and now I have that game :)

:D just to let you know... Witcher 2 is pretty poorly optimised...

Play Witcher 2, you do the world an injustice by not playing it.
This game will eat most pc's alive when maxing everything out so beware ;-)
Beware it is brain numbing hard and extremely rewarding. Witcher 1 you could kinda get away with not using the right sword(you know steel for humans and silver for monsters).
Witcher 2 it really matters, potion making and choices make massive diffrences in the game.

Witcher 3 I will pre-order within a heart beat. And when Cyberpunk 2077 comes out ;)
