The Old Republic will not be region locked at launch

If you're a Star Wars buff who happens to be Australian (or South African), or an arctic explorer, or a space-pilgrim on your way to colonize Hyperion, know that BioWare has totally got your back. In order to ensure that gamers in exotic locations still have access to the highest number of droids possible, BioWare has announced that Star Wars: The Old Republic will not be region or IP locked at launch.

Fresh-faced padawans and burgeoning sith lords will still have latency to content with, as no amount of midi-chlorians can break the laws of physics, but a little inconvenience never killed anyone. What has killed people, however, are the ice-tusked burrowing monstroliths of Hyperion. Be safe, brave explorers.

That's good news. I've always hated region locking as I wasted a ton of time getting League of Legends running only to find out I cannot join the servers. :(

Still no release date on this or GW2, bleh.

Never really got into the Star wars games myself but definitely agreeing with you on GW2, I think they haven't announced it yet it's unlikely to come out this year (usually games have a initial release date which chances a few times and a 2-3 month add campaign and I doubt SWOR or GW2 wants to take up the x-mas sales battle). If it isn't going to be this year then only around March next year :(

Great news! Love the Star Wars games.

NCsoft, developing another Massive Multiplayer Online. I just hope it does not have an effect on Guild Wars 2. :cry:

NCSoft aren't developing Guild Wars 2 or Wildstar they are just the publishers.

Guild Wars 2 = ArenaNet
Wildstar = Carbine
