The only Triple A dev that hasn't disappointed

I have to fully disagree with you on that, After having a run through of Bioshock Inf and watching the overall story line of it, it's by the far the best Bioshock. I didn't enjoy Bioshock 1 and 2 at all, then I was introduced to the 3rd installment of the series and completely drooled over the game.

It has impressed me thus far and I will get my hands on it for Xbox when I have some spare pocket change lying around :o.

I agree with Graal, very disappointing game.

Bioshock Infinite was essentially Call of Duty with Plasmids. Bioshock 1 and 2 were both FPSRPGs. I was very disappointed by the dumbed-down gameplay in Infinite.

I disagree. Bioshock was very well made story driven game where the characters I felt were very well portrayed and were very easy to form a bond with while playing. Call of Duty I hardly know who is who or why I'm doing anything.

The only Valve title I don't really care about is Dota 2 since I'm not a Dota fan. I'm a huge fan of Team Fortress,Portal and the Half Life series. Left 4 Dead was that fun LAN game till you could finish the levels and then it became boring, but once we hit that point we've barely picked it up where as we could still very easily pick up a game of CS (Source or GO)

He said the gameplay was chit, not the story.

Personally I found it boring as hell, a game without good gameplay struggles to keep my attention.

Fair enough.

I find I need a combination of both but more leaning to a more story driven game. If I don't get pulled into the game and make an attachment with the characters, I find it difficult to follow what or why I'm really doing anything and that makes me lose interest.

A combination of both is vital, I for one tend to lean towards the gameplay side, but everybody has different tastes.

Thing is, when spending 80% of the time on gameplay, I better spend that 80% enjoying myself, rather than doing tedious chores. Bioshock Infinite had an excellent story, excellent character design and development ( Yes I spent hours looking at Elizabeth ) , but those little shootouts between the pieces of the story are boring as hell, and it just ruins the experience for me. As I said, everyone has their own tastes, and the kind of stories I like are very violent and disturbing ones, and the story of Bioshock being excellent as it is didn't capture my attention.

I play games for gameplay and I watch movies for story. Therefore good stories are more important to me in movies and good gameplay is more important to me in games.

That's not to say stories aren't important to me in games, just that they take a bit of a backseat. A game is for me, first and foremost, about the gameplay.

I love stories in games and am willing to sacrifice on gameplay if the story is stellar. BUT, with Bioshock it really felt like a chore to get to the next bit of story, and that's what ruined it. Plus I didn't really think the story was that great. Give me proper believable characters over plot twists any day.

Yeah, not for me. Ok, so it does depend on the game. Games like Need for Speed, Hitman, Orcs Must Die... sure, they can drop the story all together for all I care. However with Bioware games, Assassins Creed and probably most of the games that interest me, I'd say the story is equally as important as the gameplay. If they screw up either, it would probably result in me seeing it as a crappy game.
