The Royal Wedding - Your thoughts

I'm not going to lie, I watched it and to be honest, I enjoyed every moment. It was also great to see the whole nation celebrate, I have a couple of friends and family over there and they say there's a massive party atmosphere there today.

Anyone else watch it?

I see no point since I have no relation towards UK or the monarch over there, but however I did at least look at the dress to see the design and that was it.

I honestly didnt care about it cause the reality is people in the world are ready to stand still for schitt like this ! IMO there are countries with waaay more serious and important pressing issues at hand (With people suffering) that should get the type of exposure and attention that this useless wedding has received !

I also watched it. Curiosity got the better of me. Though it was all very well done, top notch.

Watched it and loved it :) Grandparents came to watch it with me. Something like this doesn't happen often and it is nice to have a bit of a feel good fairytale story on TV between all the suffering and killing going on in the world.

Dress was absolutely stunning. So simple, yet so elegant. They both looked genuinly happy and in love! And 2 kisses on the balcony :D Saw quite a few SA flags in the crowd as well :)

Its called strawman. There are big issues in england and now to get people to forget about the real issues they hold a wedding like obama's birth certificate.

And I don't really care:p Royalty means nothing to me.

It was truly great! - Watched it and enjoyed it. They put on a really stunning event as usual. Everything seemed to have gone according to plan and appeared to have been well orchestrated from beginning to end. Sure felt proud when watching that. A hint of patriotism certainly starts showing. Especially during the march and anthem.

The crowds looked massive, at Hyde Park and those walking to Buckingham Palace down the Mall. The RAF fly-past was not as what was expected though, I thought they would at least have the Red Arrows doing a round over-head. But then again it could be a budget wedding:D

Would have been nice to have seen it there..

I think there is too much of a fuss made over the royal wedding because if you think about it people get married all the time and now when Will gets married suddenly his wedding is the most important thing in the world. I think it's not too much of a big deal.

Together with organized religion, digital rights management, astrology and high heels, the concept of royal families should be filed under "That which should not be allowed to ripen and generate pus in the 21st century".

The British Royal Family serves a purpose though, that of continuity and symbolism. A lot of people go on about Royal Families et al having no place in the modern era, but these are usually the same people who seem to assume that they still play a role in ruling the country - the UK is a fully fledged democracy, and the royals are a symbol, nothing more.

That being said, I didn't pay attention to the wedding - has nothing to do with me, although from the point of view of most of Britain they're probably hoping and praying that Will and Kate's wedding will wash away some of the recent specters of the past - seeing as how quite a few of the recent marriages have flopped - Charles and Diana's was only the most publicised.

As Tsar said - it's a bit of a straw man, but there needs to be something to celebrate - the world's been getting a lot of bad news lately.
