Much has been achieved by the team sent by Mind Sports South Africa (MSSA), as sponsored by Megarom Games, that competed in the 2011 IeSMoD World Championships that was held in the Aewol Stadium, Jeju, South Korea from 1 to 5 November 2011.

Although both players had never participated before in international competition and had never met any of the other competitors, the team members charming manners and friendly disposition soon made them popular with every competitor and all the officials.

Even though the gamers were oozing charm from every pore, the gamers never lost sight of why they had gone to Korea.

Both Jacobus and Jason practiced as soon as they had the opportunity and, proved themselves as more than a match against some very stiff opposition.

Unfortunately Jason (from Durban) was unable to make headway in StarCraft and FIFA, but Jacobus (from Worcester) proved to be made of sterner stuff as he climbed into his opponents in both WarCraft III and Kartrider.

Jason, proved his mettle by rallying around Jacobus to give him much needed support and encouragement as the championship progressed.

On the second day of the championships, Jacobus lost both his games in the finals, but what games they were!

At any time the games played by Jacobus could have gone either way, and the oohs and aahs from the audience paid tribute to just how close the final games really were....

Jacobus was rewarded for his hard play and tenacity for finishing in second place in both WarCraft III and in Kartrider.

Never before has any South African finished second in two separate events in an eSports World Championship.

The team will arrive back in South Africa on Sunday, 6 November 2011.
