The sons of bitches!

It's kinda understandable. They are a small dev team and I assume it will be less work porting it to the 360 than the PS3. This way they can also see how much console gamers are interested in the game and whether or not the investment will be worth going forward.

PS3 has always been harder to develop for so for a bunch of PC only devs to make the jump from PC to Console its easier to go Xbox first. Looks like your going to need to pick up an Xbox mate.

That's exactly what I intend to do. Normally I wouldn't bother since I already have the game on PC, but since this is The Witcher, I will buy an X360 just to play the console version - even if there is no difference whatsoever between the two. And if it ever does come to PS3 as well, I will buy that version and play it too.

IMO: they're doing this 1 platform at a time.
That being the case or not - would you develop for Sony and the PS3 after what happened over the last 2 months? (Not even counting the 20 years of abuse that precede it...)

Why wouldn't I?? What abuse are you talking about?

I didn't think of it like that... I just hope to God that it doesn't become a 360 exclusive!

I think so mate! I think so...

Sony has a very long and shameful list of transgressions against developers, consumers, publishers, etc.
They are not anywhere near the shining white knight most people see them for.

Personally, if I had a choice in the matter, I wouldn't choose Sony first either...

Transgressions? Such as?

@wheunis
Mind explaining these transgressions? Other than the hack, which would have a very small effect on a Sp focus game like the witcher2.

@Duke_Dude
They might be a PS3 port someday, hell they even hinted at it in all their launch trailers. I'll go look for a screencap.
As per the choice to release it on X360. It's pretty common knowledge that porting from PC -> X360 is much easier than porting from PC to PS3. I assume it's even cheaper.

Personally I can't wait for it to hit consoles. I might not buy it, but I know of three people who would!

Xbox users wouldn't be complaining about the problem too much, but I definitely can imagine how PS3 owners are feeling when they are also excited about a game releasing on consoles...and conveniently enough on just Xbox. :/

Oh, you mean a narrow-minded view?
Ok then!
Sony is fine! Look the other way! Pull the one with bells on it!

Jon Piazza. "We don't support the development of software by manipulating the existing Aibo software code - hacking it."

Look I get where you are coming from, I like the idea of modification just as much as the next guy, Hell I'm running Android Sense 3.0 on my desire.

But this is kind of standard practice for most companies. Very few companies allow their priority software to be tampered with. Sadly the law sides with these corporations (If due to legal standards or Monterey value/ gains) which gives the company the right to stop what they are believing would harm them, even if there is no real evidence that the hacking would impact the company in a negative or harmful way.

It's not ideal or just straight up bullshit, but that is the way it works in our world.

I did like this quote though
Aibo owners are famous for their devotion to their Chihuahua-size robots, dressing them up like babies and holding events to show off the mechanical animals they swear develop personalities.

But lets be honest though, I hardly doubt that CDP Red looked at the above situation and have that actually influence their decision to port it to X360 and not PS3. At the end developers will go where the money is. It's more cost effective to port to the X360. Hell I imagine their engine has yet to be ported to work on PS3.

I'd also like to go back to your quote, I hardly think any sane person sees Sony as the 'white night', let alone try and convince people that Sony's intentions are ever good. Sony is corporation. Their solitary existence is to make money. You shouldn't assume that everyone is corporate shrill.
