Hey I was wondering if someone here could clear something up for me about Steam if they would be so kind.

I have never actually used it since Half-Life2 a long, long time ago. I am looking to get some games, but I would need to get a friend to download them for me. Say I setup an account, and then he downloads it onto his PC using my account. He then writes the contents to DVD or external HDD, can I still get it to work on my PC if I copy the files over? The issue is not being online and such, it's just I am forced to use 3G so gigs are stupid expensive. He has uncapped ADSL so I am looking for the easiest way to get the content to my PC.

Any ideas or know how would be very much appreciated :)
 
He has to log into your account then buy it trough steam update it and then backup the files(steam has the backup program) then you can write the backup files and just install the games from the backups on your pc.
