The Steam Trading Thread.

So, seeing as these are going up all over the net, I reckon it's time we got one of our own. Steam now supports trade features, so that you can trade giftable games (non-redeemed) and TF2 items via the Steam client. A mod might want to sticky this thread to keep it up.

And just as a note, any trading is done at your own risk. Have never traded soemthing via Steam myself, but I reckon it's not easy to con someone on it. Just don't come pointing fingers here if it does happen to you.

Got a few giftable games myself, but I bought them on recent specials, so I'm waiting for them to 'age' a bit so I can get games of similar value for them. :P

Yep, it would be pretty cool, especially with all the specials that come in bundles. There is always 1 or 2 you already have, so it would be cool to then be able to trade those for others.

Graal how do you mean getting con? As in get a hole talked into your head.

me and a friend tried the trading pretty intresting and looking forward to be able to trade games you normaly don't play that you can remove them from your library and trade it for something else.

Unfortunately you can only trade giftable games that haven't been redeemed yet. Highly doubt they'd let you trade games from your Library, as that would lend the system to abuse in the sense that people can just buy one game between two people, install it for one, switch it to offline mode to play it, then trade it to the next guy from another Steam client.

Not having seen the trade screen before, I'm not sure if it's actually possible to con someone, but I reckon there should at the very least be one way to do so. :P

Also, have you guys seen, if you buy a game as a gift, there's an option to store it on your account for gifting at a later time rather than immediately? Not sure if it's always been there, but I'm buying lots of games on special so I can gift them later. :P

Yeah that option have only been added now. Since normaly to not send someone a gift right now you first had to send it to yourself by email. Then later send it to the friend you want to send it to on the date you want.

There are loads of youtube vids on the tradeing.

Ok, just tried installing my Deus Ex to find that the disk no longer works, so anyone got a Deus Ex GotY for either Complete Shooter Pack or Far Cry?

Okay, got a copy of Deus Ex from Lycanthrope's significant other, so I'm sorted on that front. :3

Still got Far Cry 1 and the Complete Shooter Pack up for trade if anyone wants to make an offer.

@DarthMol, already got Sanctum from a friend during one of the sales a while back. :P
