The Storm's Calamities and My Laptop

I'm sure all of you living in Joburg know about the freak storm we had on Friday early evening. I know it was much worse in some parts of town than in others, but for me, it was a heartbreaking day.

I was at home and I was quite thrilled by the storm while it was happening. Though I wasn't at all thrilled when I walked into my room to see it covered in a deep enough layer of water. And if having the floor covered in water wasn't bad enough, my desk too was covered; soaked!

That's right, my desk, with my Laptop on it, with my gaming PC on it, and let me now mention what other items were destroyed by this. I unplugged everything and when I picked my laptop up, it poured water out like I was tilting a full jug.

I did what I could to recover my laptop, I took it apart and thoroughly dried it out, let it sit for 24 hours after drying, but still no power coming to it, and I really don't know what hope I may have.

The good news is I managed to recover all of my data, so all my work is still intact, certainly the most important thing when something like this happens.

The laptop is now with a guy who specializes in recovering water damaged laptops and PC's. I only hope mine wasn't too badly destroyed.

It's for these times when I wish I had taken some stupid insurance policy for it :(

Well, of course I do. My roof doesn't even leak when we have heavy rains, but this storm really exposed everything I suppose. The amount of water coming through my ceiling was ridiculous and quite bizarre really.

I spent the weekend re-waterproofing everything... But it's a little late.
