Its all natural, Im using flourite dark for the substrate, finally have my T5 8W gro-lux bulb so all the red plants (most of them) are turning redder. Plus Im dosing about 3mls Iron trace a week to enhance the redness. Unfortunately the anubias nana (small plant in the front has to go since its a black list plant so not valid for the competition, the only thing of the comp is we are limited to low tech (so no CO2 - which I dont use in anycase) and 30L tanks. As well as limited to 6 plants. Currently I have Ludwiga Repens and arcurata in there as well needle leaf java ferns and rotala nanjeshun and rotala colourata. You must yell if you ever want some of the nanjeshan - Its taking over in my 40L tank - Ive already given my brother half of it and by next month I will be thinning it out again. As well as the ludwiga repens. All I am hoping for now is that the rotala will grow bushy enough to cover the heater in the back. That is the end goal by 24 Nov.

big goals :D

the plants themselves look pristine, the grass in my tank is growing like crazy but so far it and the Amazonian are not fighting which is good.

I noticed the colour of the water had a darker but very natural a pure look to it. Im sure the fish enjoy it :)

Oy where did you find that! I thought I bribed everyone to get rid of that evidence.

(scary thing is I dont even need a runway I can fall like that walking up stairs :P)

Falling upstairs is better than falling downstairs...
 
Oh and Ogz - the water is still slightly coloured from the wood leaching tannins. I havent bothered to put purigen or charcoal in to remove it - I will get it out with small weekly water changes. Besides the fighter and the white clouds seem to love the slight tint in the water.

@czc - Ive done that plenty of times as well. I am just one of those naturally clumsy people :P

Trust me I know :P I just find it ironic that my inate clumsyness never caused me to fall off the balance beam when I did gymnastics. I fell off everything else just not the balance beam and I could do most of those silly things like cartwheels and one handed handstands on it.

I think I will kill myself now if I dare to try it.
