Well only have 5 days off would certainly drive me to drinking! :D

If I think at the amount of damage those 12 - 14 public holidays, especially in April, does to the country I much prefer the 5-6 we have here. Here public holidays are also ALWAYS on Mondays.

It doesn't seem to do much damage, especially considering that we're one of the few countries in the world that doesn't seem to be dealing with a mass economic crisis.

Yeh except for those, but we can blame mostly the strike season for that because the minute one union wants to strike, the rest of the country joins in... This is why unions should be banned entirely so that we can prevent fourthcoming problems.

A significant part of our population doesn't do any work to start with, another significant part takes days off to strike for more money ... I don't think anybody would notice an extra day.

I think there are 11 public holidays in total. Which is still less than, say, Japan, which has 15, including Golden Week in the beginning of May. It's not the number of public holidays that makes a difference, it's the work ethic of the population.

+1 I don't think I could've said it better :)
