AFAIK they canned the cross platform play because it would force to delay patches and whatnot for the PC version due to certification processes and a few other issues.

Oh, I missed that one. I remember it being quiet a prominent feature a few months ago. Cross Platform, especially between Console & PC, has always been a pipe dream IMO. The one time they did make it work, with Shadowrun, it was a cluster fuck. So yeah.
