Yep, checked it out on Saturday, its actually a good remake.
Since it has nothing in comment, except the triple titted prozzie, with the original calling it a good remake is off base. A Good reboot would be better, calling it a good interpritation of "We can Remember it for you Whole Sale" by Philip K Dick, the novel its actually based on would be a even greater stretch, I would simply call it an ok-ish movie. Im waiting for Dredd so am in no hurry to go see it, may even wait for DVD like I did with Hunger Games.
That movie was pretty damn good Imo

Dunno haven't seen it. I didn't particularly enjoy the books. Since its only launching on DVD now I will try and get it though Avengers is higher on my list.
Fair enough, it actually did feel like a different movie as opposed to the 1990 film (doing away with the mars backdrop)... The one gripe I may have had was that it tried too hard with action, which did nothing for the plot and left it feeling a bit bland... In the end I didn't regret watching it.
/considers reading the novel
i actually think that avengers was ok (yes i know it made a billion and something at the box office), it was faithful to the comic characters, the Sfx was also pretty impressive and yet i still feel the movie was lacking something, compared to the christopher nolan batman movies
The old movie was even further removed from the Novel than this new remake. [Spoilers] In the Novel the Dude never leaves Earth and it all takes place in the dudes head. [/Spoilers]
Comparing anything to Nolan's batverse will leave you wanting. What is awesome about the avengers is that Joss Whedon didn't try and make it like Nolan's bat films. The way they brought Iron Man, Captain America, Thor & Hulk films together in the Avengers was masterful. They took Whedon's nack for writing character based drama around a misfit/miss match group and rode it all the way home. Instead of being a film on its own the Avengers is the cumulation all the previous films, especially Captain America and Thor. Like The Dark Knight Rises, which is less a whole film and more a 3rd Act to a larger over reaching plot, so Avengers is a 3rd Act to the Marvel hero movies.
