Many consider the 5th generation iphone too "boring" or samey as the 4th generation or the 4S. Hence the hating. It, the hating, is also about as expected, and predictable, as the iphone 5's features. Its a phone, like other phones, its purpose is communication yet some feel that its purpose is to define the user. Its a phone, it didn't rock my world but then again no phone has in years. I like my iphone 4, its a good phone, it serves its purpose, it can make calls, take pictures and some other less useful stuff. Not really sure what more a "phone" is meant to do.

I'm probably gonna move away from Apple in May when I get my upgrade, simply because they're sticking to old designs and have literally nothing new to offer. It sucks to be quite honest, that they're literally turning into the likes of RIMM.

The iPhone changed the way we see and used phones. It wasn't just a phone. Sure, at the end of the day it is just a phone, but it was revolutionary in what it brought to the market. The fact remains that, if you want a phone just to phone and text and take the odd picture, get a nokia, damn reliable and piss easy to use with a great battery life. Tech junkies such as myself and millions of others, buy phones for way more than that. Where Apple have gone a stray is that they are essentially churning out the same product over and over, the innovation seems to have fallen to the wayside since Jobs died. Sure the iPhone 5 is cool, looks good, has a nice CPU etc, but it doesn't wow, and that is what consumers want. They want to go "OMG how sweet is that phone, I have to have one!"

After picking up a S3 in store that was my reaction and the phone still blows my socks off. If you have a iPhone 4 or 4s, whats there to get excited about? An extra row of icons? Whoop. A slightly different look which I personally think the back of the phone looks like crap. I guess people are just disappointing that the company and products they have come to love, is just dragging old designs along and making the small things seem like they are making a massive innovation evolution. I just heard an interview on the radio with a media tech guy and he is saying the same thing, Apple aren't keeping up. And the fact that it is another year wait for what will undoubtedly be the iPhone 5S.
