The problem with Panda is that it doesn't pick up as many viruses as AVG or Kaspersky would etc...

I beg to differ on that point. AVG has huge amounts of viruses that it lets through, next to sophos and kaspersky, Panda is in 3rd place with the least amount of things allowed through.
