for those of you who didnt see this b4...

my insurance has told me today this car is a write off

TAKE A LOOK AT THAT PIC, thats not that bad.....now im screwed
 
Kak thats a write off dude, all that is is a new fender and bumper, possibly internals but nothing a crowbar wont bend back into place.
 
Ogbuz - not really that suprised, my insurance basically told me the same thing when I had a fender bender. The place that quoted are over the top expensive so they just loaded the quote till it was deemed a write off.

Send it to another place and they will probably fix that for R10k or even less.

Damn dude, that sucks!

Also wrote off my corsa last year. It was sad to see her like that!

The Bad thing is, if the damage is more than 75% of what the car's worth they would rather write it off.

And with the state the 2nd hand car market is in at the moment I'm sure that the damage is more the 75%.

Oh Oggs, I cant see the wheel base properly. How hard where you hit? Remember they work it out on % of damage repairs costs. Sometimes Its cheaper to write a car off than repair. Bumpers alone can cost you 2 - 3k these days.
 
Yeh a whole bunch of these okes are gonna get thrown from the list very quickly. I just hope Rusty isn't too busy to help me out though... :)
 
the rims seemed ok, the car could actually be driven back, i could feel anything wrong tho "stuff" was leaking out of it

Problem is, if its a write which they it is, well im stuffed cause i'd be lucky to get back half of what i paid, and the car was paid for :,(

Not really ... depends on the particular insurance package. Some insurance will only pay out your car's "market value" - so with a 2nd hand car you're pretty much not gonna get much back if it's written off.

well, they will pay me out what the cars worth on market

so lets say they pay me R30 000 that doesnt not = a new car, trust me

that = deposit and debt

im not even going to start and mention the amount of extras in that car, im flaming big time....
 
and as caboose said, the car means alot to me, really does

and now im left with no car, "heres you money" and stfu for the insurance

but...im not accepting it im gonna become a major headache for them
