Long day iz long![]()
Durban – New Zealand referee Keith Brown will not forget his first Super 14 match in a hurry.
He had to virtually run for his life after sounding the final whistle in Saturday night’s match between the Sharks and Chiefs.
Bottles and other missiles rained down on him as he was leaving the field.
Sharks fullback Stefan Terblanche had to shout at spectators to calm down. Brown awarded the Chiefs a penalty after the siren, which allowed them to clinch the game 19-18 with a last-gasp pressure penalty by Stephen Donald.
While the Sharks crowd was baying for Brown’s blood, Chiefs coach Ian Foster praised him for an excellent performance.
Brown also sent two Sharks – Springboks John Smit and Bismarck du Plessis – to the sin-bin and at one stage awarded five penalties to the Chiefs before the Sharks got their first one.
Sharks coach John Plumtree did not want to blame the referee, but felt some of the decisions were harsh.
The Sharks can expect major problems in the coming weeks if the laws are applied in the manner that Brown did it and they fail to adapt.
Yeh i heard about that... if the ref was being Bias then I would have also thrown shit at the oke... I mean its not lekker u know when you know ur in the right and the ref just sommer reprimands you for nothing... been there and done that....
LOL who did you smack?
