For sure. I actually feel that, that kind of life education is far superior to going to uni or something. I also miss having my entire pay check to blow on games and dvd's since my accommodation was already deducted. I even miss some of the people, you get pretty close to some of your colleague, especially those that stayed there as long as you had.

For about 6 months me and 3 other people where the ones who had been there the longest. Others came and went, those who remained became good friends... or bitter enemies.

Agree fully! It's definitely something I would advise to anybody just finishing school or uni...to find themselves! Pity it's not so accessable and easy anymore! Good opportunity is now gone! Hell yeah...I spent soooo much money on games and dvd's!!! Play.com for example lost a huge customer the day I returned!

Same here! I saw many come and go, many fall and crumble...not able to make it and going home with their pride shattered. I am just glad I could make it stick and it was AWESOME! Yeah, some days were tough and it wasn't easy to start from scratch (I didn't do the hotel thing so had to get my accommodation, work and everything from scratch)....but I stuck it through and made it! Grew up a lot there!

A Fellow Play Addict. DUDE If they knew i left they would have paid for my visa. :p HMV, GAME, Virgin Megastore. :0~~~~
Yeah it was a brilliant opportunity that has been royally fucked up .

For 6 months after i got there i also had to sort out my own accommodation, work (Adeco) ended up staying with a mate from school. 200 pounds a month rent, Living a whole week off 5 pound and buying insta meals at ASDA or Tescos. Oh yeah At the hotel i saw so many who couldn't take the punch, SO many. One of my favorite memories is of these 2 SA chics, fresh out of high school who started at the hotel, i worked night shift, by myself so i wasn't too social. And this one asked me why i hadn't asked her name & I said it she wont be there long enough for it to matter... then this one Aus chic who had been working there alot longer with me came up behind me and gave me this huge hug and said "Dont mind him, he's really a giant teddy"

Coming back and being able to say "I did it, me, by myself" is still one of the accomplishments in my life I am most proud of.

Just got home, so I can do a quick reply!

Ah snap! Yeah...I used to vary it either between Play and HMV with Virgin and Game if I couldn't find it. :p Oh....and Argos for those low-priced electronics. lol. Bought my first xbox at Virgin Megastore in Tottenham Court Road on release day! Ah the glory days!

But yes, very sad that kids today won't ever get that chance!

Same here to the tee! Shopping and living cheaply! Cheap groceries at ASDA and TESCO went a long way and you could get a lot for a little.

Hahaha! So....did that one chic last in the end or did she fold too?

Agree fully! To me too it's one of the biggest accomplishments...to say that I've gone to a foreign country with nothing but a suitcase by my side and little money in my wallet...and that I've made it! By myself! If I could do it all over again, I probably wouldn't do it any differently!

Spooner it's bad hey ... but i still think 0:42 looks awesome ... how the whole screen rippled before it shattered. Kinda like when the helicopter hit the building's windows in Matrix 1.
