No it's Full HD 42"
You sure your display settings isn't still set to 480p (PAL) giving it a slightly faded look vs 720/1080p's HD 'crystal clear' look?

RDR looks fantabulous but MW2 , all the dudes look blocky in the distance and I have to stand like 5 metres away to make it look decent

Well you should be expecting PC image quality to be honest, especially considering you are running it on a 42" full HD via HDMI.
The difference between the PC version and Xbox should be minimal.
